Happy mothers day everyone especially to our wonderful mothers in our brigade, we appreciate everything you do for our community ❤️

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the strength, dedication and compassion of mums everywhere, but especially those in our family.

Across the state, thousands of mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, stepmothers and aunties give their time to help protect their communities. Whether they're on the frontline or supporting behind the scenes their contributions are extraordinary.

Today, we thank them for all they do, not just as RFS members, but as leaders and role models in our brigades and communities.

We had two of our members attend this crew leader assessment day.

Today, members from across the district undertook practical assessments in the Crew Leader Wildfire and Crew Leader Supervision qualifications.

These assessments challenged members through a range of realistic incident scenarios, including briefing crews whilst enroute to incidents, conducting size ups, establishing control, implementing tactics, maintaining crew safety and communicating strategies effectively.

Reaching this stage is a significant achievement, with volunteers first completing the Foundational and Technical Programs before progressing into supervision and leadership roles.

A huge thank you to all members involved today - not only those being assessed, but also the many supporting volunteers who helped make the day a success. From evidence gatherers and role players through to communications operators and assessors, your contribution ensured valuable and realistic training outcomes for everyone involved.

Well done to all members for your professionalism, teamwork and commitment to developing the leadership capability of our district.

Reminder, everyone: we have a meeting at the shed at 6:00pm tonight.

While landholders no longer require a fire permit, you are still required to notify the and your neighbours at least 24 hours before lighting a fire. To notify the RFS, please complete the online form available on our website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify.

Also remember you can ask your local Brigade for assistance with your burn, we are happy to help, it provides a great training opportunity for our members.

Please note that in some areas, you may still need an environmental permit from your local council or Fire and Rescue NSW. You must also be aware of restrictions on the size and materials permitted in burn piles.

For more information on safe pile burning, visit the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/safeburning

Remember you can also ask for assistance with the burn, it provides a great training opportunity for our members.

As daylight saving ends and we gain an extra hour, it’s a great opportunity to take a moment for home fire safety. It is important to check your smoke alarms to ensure they’re working properly.

It’s crucial your home has working smoke alarms, as they provide an early warning and give you and your family valuable time to escape during a house fire.

With the cooler months approaching, please stay safe this winter. There are several simple steps you can take, such as creating a home escape plan, ensuring your smoke alarm is working and keeping all items at least a meter from the heater.
