NSW SES Hawkesbury Unit

NSW SES Hawkesbury Unit The Hawkesbury State Emergency Service is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community of the Hawkesbury.

The NSW SES is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 232 Units located throughout New South Wales. The Units comprise of more than 10,000 volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange overalls. While our major responsibilities are for flood and storm operations, the SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. Large parts

of the Hawkesbury City area are affected by the floodplains of the Hawkesbury, Grose, Colo and Macdonald Rivers. Hawkesbury SES Unit is the accredited primary land rescue unit for the Hawkesbury City area. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, animal rescues, domestic and industrial rescue. We also assist the NSW Police with bush search and rescue, evidence searches and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats. The Service's trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters.

Testing our remote rescue response

This weekend crews from Hawkesbury SES undertook a training walk on Bob Turners track at Colo Heights. The team tested radio communications, electronic mapping systems and track familiarity with a team of 11.

We regularly get calls to rescue injured or lost walkers in our district and will be conducting multiple walks this year.

Please remember to be prepared when walking and carry communication to be able to get help when needed such as a PLB.

We Urgently need cars for rescue training.

*Edit* We are located in Wilberforce near Richmond and Windsor NSW

Each year we need multiple cars to train new rescue operators and keep our current operators updated on new methods of rescuing people from persons trapped accidents.

We are currently running low on these cars and are asking the community to help us out.

If you have an old car, truck or farm machinery that you can donate for training, contact Matt on 0438676688 and he will arrange a tow truck to come and pick it up.

All donations will be destroyed while training.
