Did you hear about Ollie’s bravery in the news recently? 👏🚒

Earlier this month, 10-year-old Ollie was recognised for his quick thinking after helping save his family when a fire broke out at their home.

What makes the story even more special is that Tasmania Fire Service School Fire Education Officer Aaron visited Ollie’s school earlier this year, sharing important home fire safety messages and what to do in an emergency.

Well done, Ollie, on your bravery and for putting your fire safety knowledge into action! 💙

Brigade Officer elections.

At a pre-election meeting on Sunday the 13th of September, all Brigade Officer positions were declared vacant.
Roger Brown briefed the meeting on the required TFS procedures.
Nominations from eligible brigade members close on the 4th of October 2026.
Nomination forms are available from the TFS Northern region office.
Proxies must be registered with Roger Brown.
The election date will be announced after the close of nominations.

🚒September training and practice day was spent preparing our equipment and newly renovated station for the upcoming fire season.🚒
🧯David led a team who got stuck into cleaning W-41 and reviewing access to vital equipment.🧯
💪 Everyone pitched in with no job too big and no job too small.💪
🌭The work was followed by an enjoyable BBQ lunch.🌭

🚜🚜If you are burning off this weekend take extra care clearing and preparing your burn.🚜🚜
🌳🌳Coastal sedge and scrub-land may burn readily even with wet ground beneath.🌳🌳

Tasmania Fire Service, Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service, Sustainable Timber Tasmania, Tasmania SES and the Bureau of Meteorology met in Launceston today to assess the seasonal outlook, and agencies' preparations for bushfires.

Tasmania’s bushfire outlook for spring is heightened in the state's North East, including the Furneaux Group and East Coast, due to below average predicted rainfall over the coming months.

While spring rainfall could ease conditions, fire agencies are urging everyone to prepare now.

Don’t wait until it’s too late:
🔥 Know your bushfire risk
🌳 Clean up yards and paddocks
🍂 Clear roof gutters and remove flammable waste from around your home
🗒️ Make and practice your bushfire plan
