🦆 Grant applications are now open to support wildlife rehabilitators and community organisations prepare for the potential impacts of H5 bird flu.

The wildlife sector plays an important role in supporting early detection and reporting of H5 bird flu. These grants help the sector manage biosecurity risks and support the critical role they play in strengthening wildlife rehabilitation capacity and enhancing the resilience of vulnerable native species.

Small grants designed to support immediate activities are available in three tiers:

✅ Up to $1,500 for individual licensed wildlife rehabilitators
✅ Up to $5,000 for organisations with 2-10 people
✅ Up to $10,000 for organisations with more than 11 people

Larger grants of up to $200,000 for strategic, longer-term projects are also open to incorporated community not for profit groups.

Want to help? Everyone has a role to play: Avoid contact with sick or dead birds. Record what you see. Report it to the Emergency Animal Disease hotline: 1800 675 888.
