CLOTHING SWAP @ KEMPSEY LIBRARY
Are you looking for a fun and sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe? Join us for a community clothes swap event on Saturday 7 November 2026 from 9:30am to 11:30am at Kempsey Library, where you can exchange up to 10 freshly laundered and gently used clothing items, shoes, or accessories that you no longer wear but are still in good condition.

All items will be sorted into sizes and types, and change spaces and mirrors will be available on the day. All items must be clean and in good condition. For people aged 18 and over.

▪️9:30am to 10am - Bring your clothes and other items to the check-in table in Kempsey Library’s meeting room, and exchange up to 10 items for the equivalent number of tokens. You’ll use these tokens later to go ‘shopping’. While everyone checks-in and the items are being sorted and hung, you can browse the library or take a stroll.

▪️10:15am - Meet back in the library and enjoy a brief talk and some instructions on how the swap will run.

▪️ 10:30am to 11:30am - Let the swapping begin! Take a look at what’s on offer, try things on, and when you have made your selection, bring them to the check-out table to exchange your tokens for your new items.

All leftover clothing will be used for future swap events, or will be responsibly donated to charities. Run in collaboration with Midwaste.

Spaces are limited, and bookings are essential. Please let us know if you cannot attend, so someone else can be offered your spot. To book, please call Kempsey Library on 6566 3210 or head to ksc.pub/swap.

Our next Baby Bounce session is on Friday 23 October 2026 from 10:30am to 11am. Bring your little one along to Baby Bounce and enjoy fun songs, stories, rhymes, toys and socialising. Baby Bounce is for children aged 0 – 3 years, and the sessions are interactive, enjoyable and beneficial to both parent/carer and child. No bookings required.

EMBROIDERY UPCYCLING WORKSHOP
Thank you to everyone who attended today’s Embroidery Upcycling Workshop with Mary Walker, run in collaboration with Midwaste. The room was bustling, everyone had a great time perfecting their designs and starting to hand stitch their garments.

Mary was a patient and kind teacher, especially in showing people how to do a daisy stitch and other useful knots and darns, as well as suggesting creative solutions to issues like patching holes and covering marks. A huge thank you to Mary Walker Textiles and MidWaste for running such a fabulous event.

MACLEAY LANEWAY FESTIVAL 2026
Celebrate the creativity, talent and energy of our young people while bringing the broader community together for an afternoon of live music, art, entertainment and family-friendly fun at this year's Laneway Festival.

Featuring an incredible lineup of young local performers, youth-run market stalls, street performers, interactive activities, art experiences, food vendors and plenty of opportunities to get involved.

From live music and live street art demonstrations to the silent disco, rock climbing wall, circus playground, petting zoo, photo booth, henna tattoos and more, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

The Macleay Laneway Festival is on this Saturday (24 October 2026) from 2pm - 6pm, held at Clyde Street, Kempsey. It's free to attend, and we'd love to see as many young people, families and community members as possible come along and have fun.

Bring along a piece of clothing that is in need of embellishment and be guided through basic hand embroidery techniques to mend, adorn, and personalise your piece at this fun workshop run by Mary from Mary Walker Textiles, in collaboration with Midwaste. Embrace sustainability, grow your love of ‘slow’ fashion, and learn some creative upcycling skills to give your clothes a second life.

WILLAWARRIN WATER TREATMENT PLANT COMMUNITY CELEBRATION
Celebrate the completion of the new Willawarrin Water Treatment Plant with a free community BBQ and tree planting on Friday 16 October 2026 from 10am to 12:30pm, held at the Willawarrin Sporting Fields.

Everyone is welcome and there is no need to RSVP, just come along and help mark this important milestone for the Upper Macleay community.

Join us at 10:30am on Friday 16 October for a fish-themed Storytime session. Enjoy stories, songs and a craft activity. No bookings required. Storytime is designed for children aged 3 to 6 years, and aims to develop early literacy skills in a fun and social environment.
