What does the independent evaluation tell us about the QCE?

An independent evaluation by the University of Melbourne’s Assessment and Evaluation Research Centre has found that Queensland’s QCE system is delivering high-quality, fair and reliable results for students.

The evaluation found that:
✅assessment results are reliable and fair
✅QCE syllabuses are strong and well regarded
✅quality assurance processes are working well
✅ confidence in the QCE system has grown since 2019
✅the transition to the new system has been managed well.

The evaluation also identified six areas where the system can be strengthened further.

In this video, QCAA CEO Claude Jones explains the key findings and the QCAA’s next steps.

We’re recruiting new members for the 2027 myQCE Student Reference Group.

The group gives students the opportunity to have their say about the QCE system and senior schooling, connect with students across the state and develop new skills.

Queensland students who will be in Year 10, 11 or 12 in 2027 are eligible to apply.

Students will need a teacher to be their referee and their principal will need to endorse them.

Nominations are open until Friday 9 October.
