Grass/Scrub Fire - Werombi

Our brigade, along with The Oaks Rural Fire Brigade, Silverdale Rural Fire Brigade,Theresa Park Rural Fire Brigade and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 489 Warragamba were called to an escaped burn this afternoon in Werombi.

Upon arrival, the fire was threatening neighbouring properties on one flank, and had downed power lines and jumping the roadway on another.

The fire was able to be quickly contained due to the fast and effective coordination of our brigades and the assistance of an adjacent property owner. No structures were lost.

30/03/2026

The Official Bush Fire Danger Period will conclude at midnight tomorrow (31 March 2026) for the Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council LGA's.

From Wednesday 1 April, fire permits will no longer be required for residents, except those properties within the town limits of Warragamba, Picton, Mittagong, Moss Vale, Bowral and Bundanoon, who are required to obtain a fire permit from Fire & Rescue NSW all year round.

Even though a fire permit is no longer required, you must still notify your neighbours and the local fire authority 24 hours before burning as well as comply with any Council Backyard Burning Policies.

Before lighting up, you should also check the forecast weather conditions and have sufficient equipment on hand to control and contain the fire to your own property. Failure to notify neighbours or the RFS, or allowing a fire to escape can result in significant fines.

To notify of your intent to burn, use the online burn notification tool at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify or call your local Fire Control Centre during business hours.

Your donations at work!

The Brigade was recently able to secure a horizontal hose drying rack, thanks to recent community donations. This provides safer and easier means to clean and dry out hoses after attending incident call-outs.

Thank you to Rural Fab Solutions for constructing this fantastic rack for us, a great job!

🎅🏻Santa Run - 3pm Sunday 14 December 🎅🏻

Santa is doing his final checks and is ready for his annual trip around God's country on the fire truck this Sunday afternoon!

We will be departing our station at approximately 3pm, heading north on Werombi Road as shown in the map below. It takes approximately 2.5-3 hours to do the full loop, but we will also post a tracking link on our page before departing for you to follow along at home. You won't need to download an app, just click the link.

Santa will be in the front passenger seat of one of our trucks, so we kindly ask you to wait in a safe space on the passenger side of the truck's route (if you're not along a cul-de-sac).

Our thanks again to Evan at Orangeville Electrical for sponsoring this year's event, it is greatly appreciated! Donations to the brigade are always well received 😁

EXTREME FDR & TOTAL FIRE BAN - SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Due to increasing temperatures and windy conditions forecast for tomorrow, the Fire Danger Rating has been raised to Extreme. As a result, a Total Fire Ban has also been declared from midnight tonight for 24 hours.

During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire.

Know what you will do if threatened by fire, review your Bush Fire Survival Plan and be ready to take immediate action. Report all fires without a fire truck in attendance to Triple Zero (000) immediately.
