It wasn’t just any possession … it was a super possession! 🦸

More than 1,200 track workers completed more than 200 rail projects in just four days earlier this month between Sydney and Melbourne and from Cootamundra to Parkes. 🛤️

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide a safer, more reliable and more efficient network for freight and passenger trains, the works included the installation of two new crossovers at Joppa Junction to mark another major milestone for our Southern Highlands Overtaking Opportunities project. Other key works included track rehabilitation at Bargo, Tahmoor and Tennessee, in addition to a range of maintenance activities to strengthen the network, including upgrades to signalling systems and rail bridges. ✅

🙏 Thank you for your patience while we completed these critical long-term improvements.

Our three Network Control Centres in Mile End (SA), Junee (NSW) and Broadmeadow (NSW) work 365 days a year to keep freight and passenger trains moving safely and efficiently across Australia. But what exactly do they do?

Network controllers authorise train movements and facilitate maintenance access, ensuring every train and trackworker is safe and in the right place at the right time. When something unexpected happens, they're the ones making fast decisions to protect people and keep services running as smoothly as possible.

It's a role that demands sharp focus, quick thinking and a genuine commitment to safety, which our teams bring to every shift. We're so proud of the work our Network Control Centres do to help keep Australia moving.

🚂 We love being part of the amazing Hunter Valley Steamfest – and this year was no exception!

🙏 Thank you to the hundreds of people who stopped by the ARTC stand to say hello, ask questions and check out our Network Control Centre displays. We loved chatting with you!

🏁 We were also thrilled to again sponsor the ARTC Great Train Race, even though the two locos were beaten at the post by a magnificent Tiger Moth biplane. Our CEO Wayne Johnson said it was an honour to present the trophy to the winner.

👋 Can’t wait to see everyone again in 2027 for the 40th anniversary of Steamfest.

A conversation can save a life.

It's Rail R U OK? Day – the rail industry's annual reminder to check in with workmates and see how they're really going. That's why we're encouraging our people to make time for a chat today with those they work alongside.

Sometimes a simple "Are you OK?" can make all the difference. And when it's more than a tough day, we're proud to have more than 60 trained mental health first aiders across ARTC who are ready to listen and support.

Be sure to check in with your mates. Not just today, but every day.

Things are about to get steamy in the Hunter Valley – and we hope you can join us! The annual Hunter Valley Steamfest in Maitland comes to life this weekend. 🚂

We’ll be there to say hi and chat about everything we do to keep Australia moving, including demonstrations from our Network Control Centre.

Each year, this amazing event attracts around 50,000 people, all making the most of everything on offer, including live music 🪕, market stalls, numerous steam trains, a display of more than 500 classic cars and, of course… the ARTC Great Train Race.

We hope to see you there!

Our teams don’t stop when the sun goes down!

Whether working on track or managing train traffic, we keep going through the night to help keep Australia moving.

So, to everyone who works while the rest of us sleep, thank you!

🙌 Yes, long weekend! If you're on the road this Easter, please remember to drive safely, especially near railways.

👀 Always look and listen for trains when approaching a level crossing, obey signs and signals, and only cross when it’s safe.

Stay alert, stay safe, and enjoy the break.

Freight trains are moving again on the Broken Hill rail line, with services resuming 10 days ahead of schedule following major flood impacts in the Sydney-Perth corridor.

Over the two weeks of disruption, the Melbourne-Perth corridor was able to play a critical role in keeping freight moving and essential goods flowing to and from Western Australia.

In that same period, ARTC crews and partners delivered more than 5,300 hours of repair work across track and bridge infrastructure, restoring this critical East-West link safely and ahead of forecast.

More than 28 freight services are scheduled this week, rebalancing national freight flows as the corridor returns to service.

“ARTC recognises the work of our contracting partners, including CAT5rail, Exact Contracting, HCH and Hatch, who delivered complex repairs safely and at pace,” said Clinton Crump, ARTC Group Executive Operations. “This was a coordinated effort across the rail industry, maintaining supply while we restored the network safely and as quickly as possible.”
