To get wheels into motion, here are three previous winning entries pulled out of our Augusta Zadow Awards back catalogue to inspire your safety grant ideas:

🏆 A project helping women facing the simultaneous challenges of menopause and shift work delivered by University of South Australia (now Adelaide University)

🏆A training program designed to upskill women in agriculture to learn how to operate tractors safely by the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Farm Services

🏆 A health and safety training package for workers in the aged care and social assistance sectors to build burnout resilience developed by Alison in the Universe

So far, our Augusta Zadow Awards have granted almost $475,000 to help fund new safety initiatives for women and young workers.

For SA History Month, we dived deep into our archives to pull out this throwback and a half.

This image, from the 𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳’𝘴 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘎𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦: 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴 circa 1998, capturing what was the hierarchy of controls in managing workplace risk.

While the method to control a hazard has become a lot more modernised and refined (not to mention, the style of graphics has become a lot more sophisticated than cartoons from the late 1990s), the message still holds strong today showing that the principles of work health and safety never go out of style.

We’re looking for ideas that can make a real difference to the health and safety of women and young workers in South Australia.

The Augusta Zadow Awards provide grant funding to support initiatives, research or further education that leads to safer workplaces and lasting change.

Your idea could take many forms, such as:
