House fire at Gladstone - 15 March 2026: Five trucks and 25 volunteer firefighters responded to multiple telephone calls to Triple Zero to attend a structure fire at 5.50 pm at Gladstone in the state’s Mid North.

Upon arrival CFS firefighters found a fully involved fire that had started under the veranda of a house.

Unfortunately, an occupant of the house was injured in the incident, which was determined to have been started by a barbecue. The resident was transported to hospital by SA Ambulance Service.

The fire has proven challenging for the volunteer firefighters, who are wearing breathing apparatus.

One firefighter has been checked on scene for heat stress by SA Ambulance, and released without further treatment.

The volunteers have contained the blaze but are still working to fully extinguish it and will remain on scene for some time.

Damage to the property is estimated at $200,000.

Road train fire at Coonalpyn - 15 March 2026: Four CFS trucks carrying approximately 20 firefighters responded to Triple Zero to attend a vehicle fire just after 7 am on the Dukes Highway at Coonalpyn, approximately 170 kilometres south east of Adelaide.

Upon arrival volunteer firefighters found the rear trailer of a road train involved in fire.

The truck driver was able to separate the truck cab, preventing the fire’s spread.

Volunteer firefighters have contained the fire but the impacted trailer has been destroyed.

The trailer contained a large number of packages for delivery, the value of which is unknown.

The Dukes Highway has been closed for the duration of the incident but is expected to reopen shortly.

CFS volunteers received SA Police support at this incident.

Structure fire at Millicent - 14 March 2026: Two trucks carrying approximately 10 volunteer firefighters responded to Triple Zero to attend a structure fire at 6:45am on Mount Burr Road at Millicent in the state’s South East.

Upon arrival firefighters found the brick-veneer home fully involved in fire.

Thankfully, there were no occupants present.

Quick action from the volunteer firefighters soon had the fire under control.

The property suffered significant internal damage, estimated at $125,000.

SA Police provided support. The cause is undetermined and being investigated.

Advice - BOLIVAR - Avoid Smoke

WARNING AREA
Bolivar, the North-South Motorway and Port Wakefield Road in Adelaide's northern suburbs

ACTION
Smoke from the BOLIVAR vehicle fire is in the Bolivar interchange area.

Smoke can affect your health. You should stay informed and be aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others.

Symptoms of exposure includes shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing, burning eyes, running nose, chest tightness, chest pain and dizziness or light-headedness.

If you or anyone in your care are having difficulty breathing, seek medical attention from your local GP. If your symptoms become severe, call 000.

More information will be provided by the CFS when it is available.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Stay indoors as much as possible. Close windows, doors, and air vents (this may only assist with reduced exposure for hours or a few days, as outside air will eventually enter the home). Use appropriate air conditioner settings in the home and vehicles to prevent outside air coming in. Spend time in air-conditioned venues, like cinemas, shopping centres and libraries. Reduce indoor sources of air pollution, such as smoking, cooking with gas, burning candles or vacuum cleaning. Avoid vigorous outdoor activities, especially if you have asthma or other chronic lung or heart conditions. People with existing heart or lung conditions, people over 65 years of age, children 14 years and younger (especially those with asthma), pregnant and breastfeeding people and people with diabetes are more sensitive to the effects of breathing in smoke and should follow the treatment plan advised by their doctor.

23/11/2025

A TOTAL FIRE BAN has been declared for tomorrow Monday 24 November 2025 for the EASTERN EYRE PENINSULA, FLINDERS and MID NORTH Fire Ban Districts.

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted.

The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow.

The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan.

Fire Danger Ratings
Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

What should you do
• If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.
• In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.
• Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council.
• Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.
• Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions.
