🌱 This term at WGPS, our students have been exploring Sustainability through their Integrated Studies unit. 🌏

On Friday, our school proudly hosted a Sustainability Expo, showcasing the incredible learning, creativity and hard work of our students throughout the term.

Drawing on their knowledge of reusing, recycling and upcycling, students demonstrated how simple, thoughtful actions can help protect and care for our planet.

Our senior students brought in pre-loved books, clothes and toys to resell to their peers, giving these items a second life while bringing plenty of smiles to happy new owners. The middle school students also hosted a range of sustainability-themed games and quizzes, encouraging visitors to think about environmentally friendly choices. Meanwhile, our junior students got creative by making and selling upcycled seedling pots, complete with seedlings ready to grow.

We are incredibly proud of all of our students for their enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment to sustainability. Through their efforts, they not only raised funds but also demonstrated that even small actions can make a meaningful difference in creating a cleaner, more thoughtful and sustainable future.

What a lovely morning we had at WGPS on Wednesday, welcoming so many special visitors into our classrooms for our annual Return to School Day!

Students and their special visitors enjoyed spending time together completing a range of fun activities including:

🥚 Egg Drop Challenge
🖼️ DIY photo frames
🎨 Colouring activities
🃏 Card games & puzzles

It was wonderful to see lots of smiles, hear lots of laughter, and observe special moments shared throughout the morning.

Wishing all of the wonderful mothers, present, past and future the happiest Mother’s Day today 💕

To be a mother, or a mother figure, whether that be an aunty, grandmother, sister, or friend, we recognise and appreciate the incredible things you do for your children each and every day. Thank you for all of the care, love, and hard work you give so generously.

On Thursday at WGPS, we celebrated Muffins with Mum and were so pleased to see so many smiling faces sharing a muffin with those they love 💗

This week, our students took part in Feel It, Name It, Manage It Week 💙

Throughout the week, we explored ways to understand and support our emotions through a range of wellbeing activities, including yoga, meditation, and mindful practices. It was wonderful to see our students building their emotional awareness and learning strategies to help them feel calm, confident, and in control.

Today, we proudly recognised Do It for Dolly Day by wearing blue and raising money for Dolly’s Dream. Together, we stood up to spread kindness, promote positive mental health, and remind one another of the importance of looking out for our friends.

We are so proud of our students for embracing these important messages and showing such care and compassion towards one another 💙

Urban Upcycle Incursion ♻️

Our 3–6 students enjoyed a creative Urban Upcycle incursion today! The session began with a lively group chat, where we talked about what happens to our rubbish once it goes in the bin and explored simple, practical ways we can reduce, reuse, and recycle. These age‑appropriate conversations sparked curiosity and set an enthusiastic, engaged tone for the session 🌱

It was then time to get crafting! Children explored a generous range of clean, repurposed materials (all supplied by Urban Upcycle) and independently designed and built their own unique creations. A few inspiring examples helped get imaginations flowing, with lots of problem‑solving, creativity, and pride on display as ideas came to life.

The session wrapped up with a shared tidy‑up, reinforcing teamwork and responsibility. A short show & tell gave some children the chance to proudly share their masterpieces, and everyone left with a simple take‑home message about being resourceful and caring for our world. A wonderful blend of creativity, sustainability, and fun 💚💛

Today, we pause to remember and reflect as we commemorate ANZAC Day.

Throughout the week, students engaged in meaningful learning experiences to deepen their understanding of the bravery, sacrifice, and mateship shown by the ANZACs. From thoughtful discussions to creative activities, it has been inspiring to see our students show such respect and curiosity.

We are proud of the way our students honoured this important day. Lest we forget 💛💚

Our Grade 3–6 students had an amazing time at Phillip Island Adventure Resort! 🌊🌿

From soaring down the flying fox and taking on the giant swing 💪, to canoeing 🚣‍♂️, archery 🏹, low ropes, pancake making and a beach walk 🏖️ There was never a dull moment!

The fun didn’t stop there, with a campfire 🔥 and movie night 🎬 to finish off each day!

We are so proud of our students who showed incredible teamwork, resilience, and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. They truly represented our school in the best way possible
