A hazard reduction (HR) burn is scheduled for Friday 24th April starting at 1600 hours. The HR will be in the Eatsonville area just south of the village along Eatsonville Road.

Traffic control (contraflow effect) will be in place will we conduct our burn along the road verge and motorists are advised if they could travel along Rogans bridge/Eatsonville road to enter and exit the village it would be much appreciated.

The smoke from this burn may settle over the local area over the 24 hours post the burn being implemented. Please be cautious and slow down if smoke is drifting across the Gwydir Highway.

Light South easterly winds predicted may push smoke towards the Northern/North western part of village and up towards copmanhurst. so please if it gets to bad please shut all windows and doors and remain inside.

Please only call Triple Zero (000) if you see unattended fire. For more information visit the Hazards
Near Me app or the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/hr”

Our wonderful volunteers are stretched to the limits but keep turning up day after day.

Yesterday all 3 of our appliances got out with full crews manning them.

Today is not a day to be complacent.
20km winds predicted this afternoon could cause some more chaos and we certainly do not need any new ignitions.

Fire will move very fast and spread rapidly especially grassy, fine fuel areas.

Be vigilant Be Alert and most importantly be prepared

Clarence Valley LGA Bush Fires

NSW Rural Fire Service crews are continuing to respond to a number of bush fires across the Clarence Valley LGA. All incidents are currently at Advice level, meaning there is no immediate threat to life; however, conditions may change.

Smoke may be visible across the area, with reduced visibility and localised poor air quality
expected. People with respiratory conditions should limit exposure where possible.

Residents are urged to stay up to date via Hazards Near Me / Fires Near Me and report
unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

Motorists are also advised to check Live Traffic NSW for any road closures or traffic impacts
in the area.

Over the weekend not just in our local area but in the Clarence Valley alone there was about a dozen incidents that could have been prevented.
Majority escape pile burns from landowners either not monitoring there fire or getting caught out by the hot and at times gusty winds which ultimately lead to several grass and bush fires.

Now is reminder that with the current conditions and with no decent amount rain for the past 6 odd weeks and none forecasted for the next month that is starting to really dry out and become dangerous.

Please ensure you check weather conditions before lighting your fire and have the required equipment and adequate water supply either fixed or portable
