Weave Youth & Community Services Weave began in 1976, when a group of local Aboriginal women in Redfern/Waterloo advocated for services, activities and support for local young people.

Weave Youth & Community Services is a place-based, community-centred organisation located on unceded Gadigal and Bidjigal Lands in Sydney, with a deep and long-standing commitment to the people and communities we work with. Our diverse range of programs have been designed to help tackle issues related to poverty, homelessness, domestic violence and abuse, mental health, alcohol and drug misuse, fa

Weave’s Creating Futures Justice Program provides tailored, intensive casework support for young people (aged 10-30) who are involved in the criminal legal system.

The program includes pre-custodial, post-release and diversionary support that is strengths-based, holistic and culturally responsive.

Weave’s Driving Change Program supports people who face multiple barriers to gaining their driving licence. The program provides support through all stages of the licensing journey, including obtaining ID and clearing fines, one-on-one support with online test practice and supervised driving lessons to complete log-book hours. ⁠

Gaining a driver’s licence opens up employment, educational and social opportunities and has a profound impact on the lives of people accessing this program. ⁠

is a campaign that was established in 2014 to create space for people to talk about mental health and wellbeing and share the things that they do to support themselves during difficult times. The campaign was shared across our social media channels, Weave events and in cafes and spaces around Sydney, inviting people to add their to our growing collection. ⁠

We are seeking volunteers for our Tutoring Program in Woolloomooloo! ⁠

Weave’s Tutoring Program provides free tutoring and consistent support for children and young people who have limited access to tailored educational support. Alongside targeted, one-on-one educational support, the program provides holistic support which includes healthy snacks and meals and access to academic resources and technology to increase literacy and numeracy skills and confidence and improve educational and social outcomes for young people and families. ⁠

Today is Weave Donation Day at Stitch Coffee!

$1 from every coffee sold at .coffee (Broadway, QVB, Central) and $1 from every bag of coffee sold online will be donated to Weave.

We are so grateful to our friends at Stitch Coffee. Our relationship began in 2021 and the team have continued to find meaningful ways to support our work at Weave.

While our names make for a great collaboration, our aligned values and the commitment to long-term partnership is what has made our work together so valuable. We can't thank the Stitch team and customers enough for the ongoing support.

From the beginning, genuine connection has been central to everything we do at Weave. For 50 years - guided by the people we support - Weave has helped create meaningful spaces for people to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another.

The Weave Kitchen is a women's cooking program where food becomes a way to share stories, culture, build new skills and connect with one another. ⁠
Held every second Friday in the beautiful Juanita Nielsen Community Centre kitchen in Woolloomooloo, each session is led by a different woman connected to Weave, who is paid to teach a favourite recipe while sharing the memories, traditions and experiences behind it. ⁠

Together, the group explores affordable, nutritious meals in a lively, welcoming space filled with laughter, conversation and delicious smells. Participants take home meals each week to feed their entire households. ⁠
More than a cooking program, it has become a place where women have formed friendships and celebrate the knowledge that already exists within their community.⁠ ⁠

As we reflect on 50 Years of Weave, we are celebrating the highlights, special projects and stories of the last five decades. ⁠

Weave’s young people have been hosting annual Mad Pride events for 19 years. Following a community consultation session with staff, clients, and community members, a youth-led planning committee takes the reins to design and execute the event.⁠
⁠
Mad Pride is an annual youth-led event held by Weave Youth & Community Services in October during mental health month, celebrating the strengths and talents of the local community – challenging stigma around mental health and breaking down barriers to accessing mental health support. Mad Pride gives young people the opportunity to showcase their talents and creativity, tell their own stories, and speak candidly about their experience with mental health.⁠
