Out and About in Allansford - feedback from leaflet dropping and listening posts held at the Allansford General Store.

Many topics and concerns were discussed including:

The Freckled Duck Bakery Parking:

As most of you are aware the parking and potholes at the local bakery is an issue. The Council has allocated $500,000 from its previous budgets to be used for the upgrade of parking and drainage for the area.
Warrnambool City Council placed the job out for tender and found the quotes were higher than expected, due to this I’m of the understanding that Council will carry out these works themselves. I suspect the project would start in March/April next year ahead of winter, if I find out any more information I will pass it on.

Other concerns that were raised include:

- The need for footpaths, to the Playground and Primary School

- The Ziegler Prd Bridge upgrade

- Reducing the speed limit on Carrolls Road and Tooram Road

- Fixing the town storm water drainage system

- The need for playground fencing to improve safety and useability of Schrader Park

All of these topics are on my list to take to council.

Allansford has missed out for so long on the fundamental needs of the community and is overlooked year after year when it comes to allocation of budgets.

My aim is to address these concerns with the support of the community, through collaboration, we can create change.

Please reach out if you have any concerns or wishes for the community.

Also, feel free to drop by my next listening post for a chat which will be at the Allansford General Store this Saturday the 12th of October from 9:00am to 10:00am and Simpsons Milk bar fish and chips, from 11:00am to 12:00pm.

I will also be hosting a listening post at the Warrnambool Neighbourhood Community Centre, Wednesday the 16th of October from 12:30pm to 1:30 pm.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Out and About in East Warrnambool - feedback from leaflet dropping and Listening posts.

I have held listening posts at Simpsons Milk Bar and Fish n Chips and at the Warrnambool Neighbourhood Community Centre recently, the most discussed topics include the following:

Hard Rubbish collection:

This has been proposed before in the past and I have had a brief discussion with the CEO of the Warrnambool City Council about this this topic. It was indicated that it would be possible to do a costing and viability assessment for hard rubbish collection for all of Warrnambool, if requested by the councillors.

Footpaths:

The condition of footpaths and lack of footpaths in certain areas is an issue in East Warrnambool and Allansford, I will be working to achieve a better footpath network for these areas.

Playground Fencing:

All playgrounds need to have basic fencing and a sheltered area, to improve safety and useability of the playgrounds for the public.

Roads and potholes:

The quality of the roads and amount of potholes is a large issue for the community, but we as a council can lobby for more funding to fix the roads.

Youth engagement:

In many areas within Warrnambool our youth are overlooked. I will be lobbying to improve youth engagement within the community through projects such as building a skate park in East or North Warrnambool.

Communication with the community:

Common feedback within the community is that most residents feel their voices are not being heard. I plan to improve this by representing you and taking your wishes and concerns to council directly.

My next listening post will be at the Allansford General Store this Saturday the 12th of October from 9:00am to 10:00am,
and Simpsons Milk bar fish chips, from 11:00am to 12:00pm.

I will also be hosting a listening post at the Warrnambool Neighbourhood Community Centre, Wednesday the 16th of October from 12:30pm to 1:30 pm.

I hope to see you all there.

Also, a big shout out to the Staff and Volunteers at the Warrnambool Neighbourhood Community Centre, keep up the good work!
