The countdown is officially on for our FRNSW Open Day – Saturday 9th May 2026!

Today’s fire safety reminder is all about safe fuel storage ⛽

Fuel is extremely flammable and if not stored correctly can quickly become a serious fire risk around homes, sheds, garages, and farms.

A few simple safety reminders:
✅ Use approved fuel containers only
✅ Keep fuels away from sparks, flames, and machinery
✅ Store fuels in a cool, well-ventilated area
✅ Ensure containers are sealed and clearly labelled
✅ Keep fuels out of reach of children

Safe storage protects your family, your property, and your community.

We might’ve missed a day… but the lead-up is still just as important 👊
A little social downtime never hurts — now let’s kick things back into gear.

As we count down to Open Day – 9th May 2026, today’s a simple Sunday reflection…

What did firefighting look like back then?
Different gear. Different trucks. Different technology.
But one thing hasn’t changed — the people.

The commitment. The teamwork. The willingness to turn up when it matters most.

From then to now… we’re still here, still ready.

Prepared then.

How are you dealing with the heat? 🥵

It's currently over 44 degrees in Warren with temperatures expected to remain over 40 all week. Some important things to remember while battling the heat this week 🗒️

🧊 Stay Hydrated - Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty *limit alcohol and sugary drinks*

🕶️ Stay Sunsafe - When out in the sun, make sure you wear a wide brim hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen 🧴

Lookout for family and friends - Check in with those who are at risk of illness during heatwaves. This includes:
👴🏻 People over 65yrs of age
👶🏻 Babies and young children
🤱🏻 Women pregnant or breast-feeding
👷🏻‍♂️👨🏻‍🚒 People working in hot environments
👨🏻‍🦼 People with poor mobility
😷 People with chronic illness (diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, lung disease or mental illness)

🐶 Ensure pets are hydrated and not left in hot cars

🔥 Avoid activities that may cause fire - Even outside Total Fire Ban days, extreme heat can increase the chance of uncontrollable fires. Be fire safe and make sure to call 000 if you see fire.

🎆 Happy New Year from Fire and Rescue NSW – Fire and Rescue NSW Station 491 Warren 🚒

As we will soon be welcoming in the New Year, the members of Fire and Rescue NSW Station 491 Warren would like to wish our local community and surrounding areas a safe, happy, and positive year ahead.

Wherever your celebrations may take you, please take care on the roads. Double demerits are still in place, and it’s important to obey all road rules, drive to the conditions, take regular breaks, and never rush. Arriving late is always better than not arriving at all. With school holidays continuing, please remain especially mindful of children, pedestrians, and other road users.

As part of the emergency services, we understand that every year comes with both highs and lows. What gets us through is teamwork, community support, and looking out for one another — values we encourage everyone to carry into 2026.

Most importantly, please remember that help and advice are always available at both large and small New Year’s Eve celebrations. Event coordinators, emergency service personnel, and support staff are present in many areas to assist if needed. If something doesn’t feel right, or you need guidance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We also encourage everyone to spare a thought for those who may be spending New Year alone. If you have a neighbour, friend, or family member nearby, taking a moment to check in or say hello can make a real difference.
