The Western Highway Action Committee, representing 10 municipalities across western Victoria, including Yarriambiack Shire Council, has released a new advocacy prospectus outlining priority investments needed along the Western Highway from Melton to the South Australian border.
The prospectus calls for a long-term vision of a fully duplicated, freeway-standard highway while focusing on immediate projects to improve safety, freight efficiency, connectivity and network resilience.
Key priorities include:
โก๏ธ Duplication of the highway between Buangor and Ararat
โก๏ธ Construction of the Beaufort Bypass
โก๏ธ Upgrades between Melton and the M80
โก๏ธ Bacchus Marsh Eastern Link Road connections
โก๏ธ Duplication between Ararat and Stawell
โก๏ธ Improved highway maintenance programs
Chair of the Western Highway Action Committee Cr Rod Ward, from Moorabool Shire Council, said the prospectus demonstrated the united commitment of western Victorian councils to improving one of the state's most significant transport corridors.
