What a tremendous Term Three!
Students have explored what makes a place livable by learning about essential and non‑essential resources, renewable and non‑renewable materials, and the effects of different seasons, floods, droughts, and even the water cycle.
All of this learning has come together in two major projects: a written persuasive piece where students propose an idea to improve our school, such as creating a mini golf course or adding more vegetable‑rich options to the canteen, and a Minecraft town project where students design a village with livability at the forefront, considering essential resources, recreational opportunities, water systems, and power distribution.
Alongside our classroom learning, we’ve enjoyed a basketball excursion, a school disco, and opportunities to build relationships with students at Malibu. We’re also looking forward to our Warnbro Day next week. We could not be more excited about the progress students have made, and continue to make, both inside and outside the classroom.

🍪 Duke of Ed Volunteering in Action 🍪
As part of their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, some of our students are completing their volunteering hours by combining something they enjoy with giving back to the community.
The boys chose to use their love of cooking to make sweet treats for the people who visit St Brendan’s Respite Centre. Before starting, they trialled different recipes and shared them with staff for feedback. The chocolate chip cookies, oat cookies, chocolate muffins and banana muffins were all a hit, with the oat cookies becoming a clear favourite!
Each week, the students work together to follow recipes, measure ingredients, prepare and bake the food, clean up and organise everything ready for delivery. Every Friday, staff take the treats to St Brendan’s, and the feedback from staff there has been that the sweet treats are always very well received.
St Brendan’s has been very supportive of our students and has given them valuable opportunities to volunteer and build their employability skills, so this is a meaningful way for our students to give something back.

Monochrome Self-Portraits – Exploring the Self
Warnbro Shopping Centre
31 August – 3 September

Over two terms, our Year 10 artists created acrylic self-portraits using one main colour. They mixed tints, shades and values, built their paintings in layers, and explored light, shadow and identity.

Each portrait is different because every student is different.

Behind every painting is not only a portrait.
There is a story, a personality and an artist.

Leadership 2 has had a busy term! Students have been developing their independence, leadership and community participation skills through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, working towards their Physical Recreation, Volunteering and Skill goals. Some students have also taken on the challenge of completing the Silver Virtual Journey, demonstrating commitment, perseverance and the ability to work towards long-term goals.
Our class has also been building their communication and social skills to prepare for their Social Connection Excursion. Through engaging activities and role-play, students have been practising how to start and maintain conversations, confidently communicate with new people and develop their interview skills. These skills were put to the test during our visit to the Billy Dower Youth Centre where students participated in activities and practised their positive communication skills with students from another school. Experiences like these help our students build the confidence and skills they need to participate successfully in their community, future workplaces and everyday life.
It has been fantastic to see students challenge themselves, work collaboratively and develop greater confidence and independence throughout the term!

BOOK WEEK DISCO FUN!

Yesterday, our Year 7, 8 and 9 students had a fantastic time attending the Book Week Disco at Malibu School, celebrating the magic of books, characters and imagination! Our students embraced the occasion with some fabulous costumes, with plenty of Harry Potters, Where’s Wallys and Yodas hitting the dance floor! A very special congratulations goes to our Year 9 student, TJ, who took out the Best Costume prize in his incredible inflatable Hulk costume!

Beyond the costumes and dancing, the afternoon was a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with students from another school, make new connections and enjoy a shared celebration together. Everyone had a wonderful time and our students proudly represented our school throughout the event. A huge thank you to Malibu School for inviting us and for creating such a fun and welcoming Book Week celebration, a wonderful afternoon celebrating books, friendship, connection and a little bit of Book Week magic!

Pathway Planning Term 3 Week 4 – Workplace Learning Highlights

In Week 4, many of our students stepped into our local community for Workplace Learning opportunities. Workplace Learning provides valuable hands-on learning in the workplace, helping to develop work readiness skills for future employment.

We are always so very proud of the professionalism, enthusiasm, compassion, initiative and maturity our students demonstrate through their involvement in our Pathway Planning program and we consistently receive fantastic positive feedback from the employers who welcome them.

Our students engaged in Workplace Learning across a range of industries, gaining valuable experience and insight into different career pathways.

At Woolworths, students developed retail and bakery skills, while others gained retail experience at Red Dot Home, including pricing and shelving stock and supporting daily store processes.

Students pursuing automotive pathways gained hands-on industry experience at Mad Mechanical, Custom Mechanics, NAPA Auto Parts, Gemini Accident Repair and Challenger Ford, developing practical skills and learning more about vehicle servicing, panel beating, parts and the automotive industry.

At Sherwood Kennels, students supported the care and daily needs of the dogs while contributing to general maintenance and cleaning.

At Workpower, students further developed their employability skills through experiences in the Timber and Packaging Rooms.

We sincerely thank all of our local employers for welcoming and supporting our students. Their ongoing commitment provides our students with valuable opportunities to build confidence, develop practical skills, explore future pathways, and make a positive contribution to the wider community.

Pathway Planning Term 3 Week 4 – Volunteering Highlights

During Week 4, many of our students stepped beyond the classroom to participate in meaningful community volunteering.

Volunteering allows students to contribute positively to our local community whilst further developing their soft skills towards employability and life skills.

We are incredibly proud of the professionalism, enthusiasm, compassion, initiative and maturity our students continue to demonstrate through their involvement in our Pathway Planning program. They consistently make a positive impression on the organisations who welcome them.

Native Plants WA - Students volunteered their time to revegetate garden beds, w**d and clear native areas and planting of tree seedlings.

Horsepower - We have a student who supported lessons, exercised horses, and assisted with feeding and animal care.

St Brendan’s Homeless Respite - Students helped prepare and serve meals, assisted with morning setup, and supported pack up and clean up activities.

Baptistcare Gracehaven - Students brought joy to residents through conversation, games, walks, rickshaw rides, music, singing, dancing, and creative activities.

Toddler Jam at Warnbro Community Church - We have a student continuing to assist with kitchen and food preparation duties.

Endeavour Primary School Library - Two students volunteered their time in a local primary school library where they scanned barcodes and sorted books.
