Create Retreats

Create Retreats Create Retreats own two country properties especially made for crafting, girls weekends and families

Create @ Warburton provides a special place to get away from the rush of city life. Look at the views of Mt Victoria, enjoy the parrots on the deck or just sit next to the fire. Walkers and bike riders can tackle the Warburton trail, mountain bike tracks or Mt Donna Buang. There are 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms in the retreat which have been refurbished in a very comfortable and eclectic manner! Cre

ate@Harcourt is in the centre of Harcourt just 5 minutes from Castlemaine. The 5 bedroom Mt Gambier stone house has been lovingly refurbished. The retreat is located within very short distance of two excellent cafes. Both of our retreats have been designed to cater for crafting retreats. Both have a huge crafting table with inbuilt power points and excellent lighting in the crafting rooms. Cutting tables and irons and ironing boards are provided for patch workers and garment makers.

A group who have been coming to Warburton every year for as long as I can remember, decided to check out Harcourt. Needless to say, they loved it!

Remember the star block drive for ? Many people are working through those wonderful blocks to turn them into quilts. These tops and quilts visited Create@Harcourt.

Star performances from everyone!

Every group uses our spaces differently. The retreats are designed to be flexible for night (pj clad or not) or day sewing, paper craft, garment making, knitting, crocheting and more.

However you create and connect, we have great spaces.

The new RED back door at Harcourt has been “patchworked” by . It’s very pretty, especially when the sun shines through it.

Have you used the design walls at Harcourt yet?

Three big beautiful walls covered in flannel grid so that your blocks stick without pins.

We’d love to see your creations displayed!

“Came for the craft and stayed for the birds” wrote someone in our guest book at Create@Warburton. You can see why. Beautiful and entertaining.

This cold snap makes me want to see by the fire at Warburton and watch the antics of the birds out the window!

Just some snippets to remind you of how you felt on retreat at Harcourt……..

The track to Lala Falls is just 200 m down the road from Create@Warburton. It’s a beautiful walk.

It’s common to hear Lyrebirds on this track.

Only 3.2km return but with some uphill sections.

I am the proud owner of a Bernina 831. Nothing flashy to see here. I cut my own threads, no computer.

Sometimes I think about a newer machine but I never get around to it. I’m a bit sentimental.

What machine do you sew with?

BERNINA Australia

I love that there have three generational family gatherings at both Warburton and Harcourt this Easter.

Precious time to connect with family.

My favourite story of this time was from Warburton where a grandmother taught a child to knit over the Easter break. ❤️
Time together is special.

For a long time, we have watched unfold on the hill behind us.

They narrowly escaped the fires. 🔥. Today, I had my first ride (with my Mum). Simply fabulous.

Fabulous station (sorry no pic). All diesel and steam engines and carriages made by enthusiasts. Great track. Only $5 a ride.

More adults than kids riding when I was there! Fun!

Great weekend on the horizon!

23/03/2026

Thank you to these generous women for sewing with me this weekend. A great time of making quilts for , sharing food, stories and skills and forging new connections.

The joy of finding the perfect binding for a quilt and deciding on the best way to quilt a particular piece. ❤️.

Thanks for the creative times. I can’t wait to do it again.

I posted a short video of this the other day but it was draped over the balustrade so some of the quilt wasn’t visible.

I searched for images taken at my home or Warburton (4,000 plus - yes my filing system is that bad) and found these.

It was SUCH a pleasure going through old photos! I can highly recommend it. We take so many these days but how often do we revisit them?

Made by me as one of my very first quilts about 7 years ago. Pattern is Lucy’s terrace by . Most fabrics . Lives on a bed at Create@Warburton. You could even be lucky enough to sleep under it.

Organising a retreat is sometimes (often) like herding cats. It’s true!

If you are a herder. A big thanks from me. ❤️

Send this to your herder to let her know you appreciate her.

The images crack me up.

I love this quilt from Create@Warburton for lots of reasons. It’s is a time capsule of my stash at the time of its making which gives me joy.
Also, it represents generosity. I was wanting some new quilts for Warburton and a group who stay with us frequently offered to make a quilt whilst they stayed if I provided the fabric. These wonky long cabins are the result and I added the border and the luscious backing (wait until the end). Quilting by . I am very grateful to the women who gave of their time to help create this happy quilt. ❤️ Thank you.

Remember how you felt last time you were on retreat? With the world going crazy, maybe it’s time to retreat again. Find yourself and others.

I don’t post often enough about the quilts at Create@Warburton. There are some beauties ❤️ .

This quilt is a epp quilt sewn in the arrangement from . It is one of the first quilts that I ever made. There is another version of this quilt at Create@Harcourt.
Quilted by .
Complimented beautifully by the view from the balcony.

I am sorry that I only photographed half of the quilt. Next time!
