The Warburton Tree

It's great to see the Victorian Tree Industry Organisation (VTIO), acknowledging that the two Tomographs performed on The Warburton Tree were both lacking, at their 2025 VTIO Tree Biometrics Workshop.

It's too late for our tree, and we won't get the half a million dollars back spent ignoring this information, but it's encouraging to know that other trees will not suffer similar fates and that 'The Warburton Tree' is being used as a vessell to provide better education on tree diagnostic equipment to the arboriculture industry.

That's a good outcome.

A short while ago it was observed that The Warburton Tree was experiencing dieback on one section of the tree, most likely due to extreme crown reduction which can leave gums susceptible to all manner of things.

The Arborist from Yarra Ranges Council has done an inspection and will come up with a plan in an attempt to support the tree to come back to health.

He will let us know what the plan is moving forward in the next couple of weeks.

It will be interesting to watch and monitor the results of councils efforts to save this section of the tree and it's also a good opportunity for interested people in the tree industry to see how this pans out.

Another reason old growth trees need to be protected in the urban environment.

We need the Arboriculture industry and councils to extend their knowledge and thinking when it comes to assessments of these trees.

Not too hot, not to cold for a community stroll along the riverside where we can chew the fat in more ways than one!

Meet in the tennis court car park from 7pm tonight (Monday)!

This is such a great time of the year to walk the banks of the Yarra River in Warburton.

Head nods, 'nice day for it', dog pats and random conversations with people you come across known to you or not, are all staples for a good stroll.

Some of the best ideas and solutions come from just chatting.

The Warburton Tree is increasing its foliage and looking pretty vibrant.

The weeds below are running a bit rampant and we have contacted council to see if we can put together a volunteer group to manage the weeding within the exclusion zone.
