There was plenty of excitement this morning as a few of our members visited Guardian Childcare in Mt Evelyn!

The kids had the chance to get up close to tanker 2, learn a little about what we do, and ask lots of great questions. There were plenty of smiles, waving hands, and future firefighters in the making!
😉🧑‍🚒
A big thank you to Guardian Childcare for having us, we had a fantastic time! ❤️🚒

A sincere thank you to Wandin Yallock Primary School for their kind donation to our brigade!

It was a pleasure for a few of our members to attend the school assembly and accept the donation. We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of our local community! 🫶🏼🚒

💙 Help us in cheering on one of our own! Rico is putting his fitness, determination and firefighting spirit to the test for a great cause. 💙

We’re incredibly proud of our very own Rico, who will be taking on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb on the 12th of September.

Rico will climb 28 floors while wearing 25kg of firefighting gear, helping raise funds for some incredibly important causes. The event supports Lifeline, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and the 000 Foundation, funding cancer research and providing vital mental health and crisis support.

100% of every dollar donated goes directly to these causes.

Rico has already raised $750 of his $1,000 goal, and we’d love to help him reach the top.

If you’re able to, please consider supporting Rico by donating via the link below. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.

Good luck, Rico, your Wandin family is right behind you every step of the way! 🚒💙👏

Today we recognise and thank the many first responders who serve our communities each and every day.

From emergency services personnel to volunteers, your willingness to help others in times of need does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your service, sacrifice and dedication to protecting and supporting our communities. 🚒🚓🚑

An old video, but still worth a share,
As winter roads demand extra care.

Winter’s here, the roads have changed,
With rain and fog, the risks are raised.

Wet roads glisten, tyres can slide,
So slow it down and take your time.

Leave more space, don’t rush ahead,
A few more seconds is better instead.

Drive to the conditions, stay alert and aware,
Because everyone gets home when we all take care.

This winter, make safety your goal,
Slow down, stay safe, and arrive home whole.

🚒 A reminder from Wandin CFA: Slow down, drive to the conditions, and stay safe on our roads this winter.

It is with great pride we recognise Ricky and former member Jenny on receiving the Chief Officer’s Unit Citation for Courage for their actions during the 2019/2020 Black Summer fires at Mallacoota.

As part of Strike Team 1392, they were tasked with defending the township of Mallacoota as the fire front approached, with flames reported to be up to 50 metres high and dangerously close to homes, community buildings and the fire station. Despite the extreme conditions and very real danger, they worked tirelessly to help protect the town and the people sheltering within it.

The actions of ST1392 and what they did for the Mallacoota community are still remembered today, with their efforts recognised by a commemorative plaque at the local primary school.

We are incredibly proud to see Ricky and Jenny receive this well-deserved recognition, surrounded by family on such a special occasion!

Their courage, commitment and selflessness reflect the very best of the CFA spirit. Congratulations Ricky and Jenny, Wandin is incredibly proud of you both!
