Today is Thank a Firey Day! πŸ”₯πŸ‘©β€πŸš’

Thank you to all the firefighters that step up to keep our communities safe.

And thank you to our community for all the support we receive.

Your support means more to our firies than you realise πŸ₯ΉπŸ”₯

Today, on Thank a Firey Day, show some love to the legends who run towards danger to keep our loved ones safe πŸ’™

In the past year alone, our career and volunteer firefighters have responded to over 5,700 bushfires, 3,300 road crash rescues, 1,400 structure fires and countless other emergencies across the State, but the numbers don’t tell the full story.

Behind every call-out are hundreds of hours of training, missed family moments and relentless sacrifices, the early starts and quiet acts that often go unseen, like comforting someone on their worst day, teaching kids about fire safety, helping families who’ve lost everything or checking in on a mate doing it tough.

It takes courage, dedication and heart to do this job. It’s a tough gig and they do it to protect their community – time and time again.

Recruiting for our 2026 Firefighter School closes TOMORROW! (18 Feb)πŸ”₯πŸš’πŸ’¦

We are seeking any City of Kalamunda residents interested in either frontline firefighting, or to join our Incident Support Team (IST) and assist behind the frontline.

Frontline firefighting involves active firefighting in the traditional sense of 'putting the wet stuff on the red stuff'. Alternatively, our IST provides support to the brigade through administration, communications and logistics.

THANK YOU to our wonderful local community (and those from further afield) for all of your thanks and support over the last few days during the Kalamunda incident, it has been overwhelming and truly appreciated 🫢🏼

I’d like to sincerely thank our AMAZING brigade and our incredible members (all 90 of them!) for answering the call on New Years, stepping away from your own celebrations, family, and friends, in order to protect the City if Kalamunda. Thank you also goes to all volunteer and career firefighters, DFES personnel, SES members and countless other emergency services that came to help from all over the metro area. It is because of you that lives, properties and houses were saved πŸ‘πŸΌ

Our Brigade has assisted firefighting efforts with crews on the fireground for the past 56 hours straight, and will continue to assist with patrols over the weekend.

I can assure you that knowing our community is safe is all the reward we need, however that being said, we have been overwhelmed by many residents reaching out asking how to thank us, donate, or offer support. We train every Sunday from 8am-10am, and will be on station tomorrow morning for anyone who would like to pop in and say hi, have a chat, or say thanks to our awesome members 😁 we will also be putting on a dinner for our volunteer members next week, so if you’d like to donate any BBQ meats or items please reach out 🫢🏼

The very best way you can support us is to make sure you have a bush fire plan! You can also join or create your local Bushfire Ready group in your street. Lastly, make sure you have downloaded the Emergency WA app or are familiar with the website πŸ”₯ more info and links can be found on our website:

A busy start to 2026! πŸ”₯

On the back of multiple shifts for a number of out of shire incidents over the last few weeks it has been all hands on deck over the last 24 hours keeping our own community safe.

We thank not only all the volunteers at the Kalamunda brigade for the hours they have put in but also all the surrounding brigades and support teams who came in to help.
