The Shire recognises the passing of former CEO Len Calneggia. Mr Calneggia was CEO from 2009 through 2013 and embraced the role with community mindedness and boundless energy.

During Mr Calenggia’s tenure there were significant upgrades to the Shire’s pool including construction of the leisure pool for our youngest swimmers, upgrades to the airstrip, and construction of the skate park.

After leaving the Shire Mr Calenggia remained as an active contributor to WA volunteering through his membership of the Rosa Brook Bush Fire Service in Margaret River.

The Shire extends its sincere condolences to Mr Calneggia’s family and friends.

COMMUNITY BUDGET REQUESTS 2026/2027 – OPEN NOW!

The Shire of Wagin is inviting local community groups and organisations to apply for funding support through its 2026/2027 Community Budget Request program.

Council will consider applications for contributions of up to $10,000. Requests exceeding $10,000 will be considered based on a one-third contribution from Council and a two-thirds contribution from the applicant.

All submissions must be made in writing and demonstrate a clear benefit to the Wagin community.

Applications close Friday 31 July 2026.

Today, Synergy advised that from next week through September 2026 oversized vehicles will be transiting the length of the Collie Lake King Rd in the Shire including through the town.

As this is a Main Roads arterial, the Shire has no discretion over these movements.

The Shire of Wagin has released its draft Strategic Community Plan 2026–2036, which sets out a vision for the next ten years focused on cultivating prosperity, wellbeing and strong community connections.

We invite residents, businesses and stakeholders to review the draft plan and share their feedback by 17 June 2026.
