Today’s farmers aren’t just producing food and fibre. They’re generating carbon credits, hosting renewable energy and exploring new income streams.

New AgriFutures research shows many of these activities aren’t clearly recognised under current tax rules and today, over half of farm income now flows through companies and trusts the system wasn’t designed for.

The result: more complexity, uncertainty and missed opportunities.

The Assessing the Implications of Emerging Farm Income Streams for Primary Producer Tax Policy report shines a light on how the system can better reflect the realities of modern farming and support producers to keep innovating.
