Wadalba RFS would like to express our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Matt’s family and our good friends over at Wyong SES. We stand with you during these challenging times.

RIP ❤️

It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our Unit Commander, Matt le Clercq.

Matt was an exceptional leader whose dedication, compassion, and tireless commitment to protecting our community inspired everyone around him.

His leadership helped shape our unit into more than just a team. Wyong Unit became a place where people felt safe, supported, and part of a family.

Matt's impact on our members, our community, and the SES will be felt for many years to come. His legacy lives on through the people he mentored, the friendships he built, and the countless lives he touched through his service.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Matt's family, friends, and fellow SES members during this incredibly difficult time.

Matt’s passing is believed to be due to an unexpected medical episode and we ask that you keep his family, friends and colleagues in your thoughts as they navigate the days ahead.

In the coming days, we will provide more information on how you can honour Matt.

Rest in peace, Matt. You will be deeply missed 🧡🕯️

Last night Wadalba RFS hosted Fire and Rescue NSW Station 505 Wyong and Fire & Rescue NSW Station 450- Saratoga for a simulated structure fire exercise. Crews were put to the test working collaboratively to safely overcome a number of challenges firefighters often encounter on the fireground. The exercise focused on inter-agency communication and breathing apparatus operations while crews also had the opportunity to learn about Saratoga’s RPAS (Remote Pilot Aircraft Systems) and how it can be used to gain intel at a structure fire.

This training is essential to ensuring firefighters from both agencies are ready to respond to similar real life scenarios. Thank you to all firefighters who joined us on the night.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of 2 volunteers from Marine Rescue during rescue operations in Ballina yesterday. Our thoughts are with your family, friends and crew-mates at Marine Rescue.
We work as one, and we mourn as one.
May they find their rest.

As daylight saving ends and we gain an extra hour, it’s a great opportunity to take a moment for home fire safety. It is important to check your smoke alarms to ensure they’re working properly.

It’s crucial your home has working smoke alarms, as they provide an early warning and give you and your family valuable time to escape during a house fire.

With the cooler months approaching, please stay safe this winter. There are several simple steps you can take, such as creating a home escape plan, ensuring your smoke alarm is working and keeping all items at least a meter from the heater.
