Flinders Day is a day of celebration of the history of Coochiemudlo Island. Lieutenant Matthew Flinders landed on the Coochie beach on the 19th of July 1799, declaring the island, "Island 6". Every year, the island celebrates by holding Flinders Day on the nearest Sunday to the anniversary of his landing. It's the island's biggest event which begins with a street parade followed by a reenactment o

f his landing. There are markets, food and wine stalls, the Black Powder Club (musket enthusiasts), events for adults with outrigger races and Pirate Island for children.
