Testing will soon begin for the new Australian Government cell-broadcast message alert system, called AusAlert. 📱

AusAlert will allow emergency services organisations across Australia to send targeted, near-instant warning messages to compatible mobile devices during disasters.

This means authorities can reach people quickly when it matters most, helping to save lives and property.

AusAlert will be operational by October 2026, ahead of the 2026-27 higher risk weather season.

Community testing will take place across urban, regional, and remote areas in all states and territories in June 2026. Locations include:

🔷 Majura, Australian Capital Territory
🔶 Queanbeyan, New South Wales
🔷 Liverpool, New South Wales
🔶 Port Douglas, Queensland
🔷 Geelong, Victoria
🔶 Port Lincoln, South Australia
🔷 Tennant Creek, Northen Territory
🔶 Goomalling, Western Australia
🔷 Launceston, Tasmania

A national test of AusAlert will take place on 27 July 2026.

During the national test, everyone with a compatible mobile device will receive an alert.

Tasmania Police will hold a memorial in Ulverstone on Tuesday, 16 June to mark 12 months since Constable Keith Smith was tragically taken from us.

Members of the community are warmly invited to attend, stand together and remember Keith’s life, service and impact.

We are excited to announce that the 2026 Mental Health Week Small Grants round is NOW OPEN for applications! 🎉

Mental Health Week in Tasmania this year will run between 3-11 October, encompassing World Mental Health Day on 10 October.

If your organisation is planning an event or activity to celebrate Mental Health Week, consider applying for a grant to go towards the costs. 🌱

Last week, a very special moment took place at Government House in Canberra.

Our Patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia , officially unveiled our commemorative digital book, 60 Years 60 Stories, alongside RAWCS President Heather Chong, marking a proud milestone in our 60th anniversary celebrations.

60 Years 60 Stories brings together memories, reflections, and moments from across six decades of RAWCS. It is a tribute to every Rotarian, volunteer, donor, and community member who has been part of our journey, and a reminder of just how much can be achieved when people come together in service.
