💥 Behind every veteran is a story of service… and often, a partner or family quietly serving too.

This week, during Navy Families Week, it was incredibly special to see a story featuring a Navy wife — a reminder that service has never only belonged to the person in uniform.

As a child of a Defence family, and later serving 23.5 years in the Royal Australian Navy myself, I have seen firsthand the quiet strength of Defence and veteran partners.

The missed birthdays. Solo parenting. Endless moves. Careers placed on hold. Holding families together during deployments, postings, injuries, transition and uncertainty.

For generations, partners have stood beside those who serve — often without recognition, fanfare or thanks.

At P.V.A., we know this truth deeply: partners and families are not simply observers of military and veteran life — they live it too.

To every Defence and veteran partner, past and present: thank you. Your contribution matters. Your service matters. And your story deserves to be seen, heard and recognised ❤️

Because let’s be honest…A veteran is anyone who has served — even for a day.And a partner? Well… once you’ve walked that road, you carry it for life ❤️

Come together as a community

Share stories, laughter, and maybe a few “only we get it” moments

Connect across generations

And finally give this “hidden service” the recognition it deserves

👯‍♀️ So rally your people!Group chat. Road trip. Book the flights. Make a weekend of it.Bring your best friend, your mum, your daughter, your old posting mate — this is one of those “we’re going together” kind of events.

🐢🌼 Petunia’s Garden Patrol – P.V.A.’s Smallest Member, Biggest Attitude, Greatest Fluence 🐢🌼

This week Petunia 🐢took herself on a full garden ⛲️ patrol — starting with a rose inspection and then marching straight into the yellow blooms like she was reviewing the grounds of Government House.

It’s classic Petunia: tiny 🌤️ in size, enormous in confidence. Honestly … it’s a bit of a reflection of our P.V.A. community too. 🪞

With partners and families 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒, it’s the everyday moments — showing up, checking in, keeping things moving — that build the strength 💪behind our veteran community.

No fuss, no fanfare, just quiet capability and a sense of belonging that holds everything together.

Petunia might only be 12cm tall (sorry long) on a good day, but she carries herself like a whole committee.

We respect that energy. ⚡️
