🌿 After all the rain and wind, it was wonderful to be back in the reserve this morning! ☀️

We got stuck into plenty of woody w**d removal and planted an amazing 70 new trees, including Black She-oaks and Green She-oaks 🌱🌳

If you enjoy getting your hands dirty and making a real difference to our local environment, you're in luck, we'll be doing it all again next Tuesday! 😊🙌

🌿 Looking for a great way to get outdoors and make a difference? 🌿

We've got a couple of fantastic conservation activities coming up and we'd love to see you there!

🌱 Remnant rescue on our 80-acre block
🔨 Tackling boneseed and small pine seedlings
🌳 Planting green she-oaks throughout the canopy understory

📅 Saturday, 6 June
🌿 Another volunteer activity is planned – more details coming closer to the weekend!

How amazing is this! 🙌🌱

This new trailer is going to be fantastic, helping with our planting days 🌿, moving logs around 🪵, transporting our planter pods 🚜, and carrying all our tools and equipment 🛠️

🐢 Today is World Turtle Day, and we love our turtles at Daangean 💚

Did you know we have around 300 nesting female turtles? Incredible, isn’t it? 🌏✨

But there’s also a massive problem across Australia, turtle nests are being heavily predated by foxes 🦊, and no turtle population is truly safe.

At Daangean, as volunteers we are doing everything we can to help protect these amazing animals 🐢💪 We install fox-proof nest covers, create turtle islands, and build small log structures to improve habitat and nesting success.

Now we need Local, State, and Federal Governments to step up, invest in, and support direct on-ground action, even for species that are not yet in critical decline.

We need preventative action, and we need it now. 🌱

National Volunteer Week feels a little different when you’re also one of the volunteers 💛

While I help organise many of our activities and events, none of it happens alone. I’m incredibly grateful to work alongside a supportive board and an amazing group of volunteers who continue to give their time, energy, care and heart to our community and environment 🙌

What we’ve achieved together hasn’t happened because of one person, it’s happened because you said “yes” when help was needed.

Early mornings, late nights, hard work, laughs, problem-solving, support and kindness… all of it matters ✨

To every volunteer and board member I’ve had the privilege to work beside: thank you ❤️

Your support, commitment and willingness to help make a real difference, and I hope you know how valued you are.

I’m proud of what we’ve built together, and even prouder to be part of a community that genuinely cares 🤝
