🔥 OUR FIRST GRASS FIRE OF THE SEASON 🔥
Yesterday, we attended our first grass fire of the season, which was started by a stump that had been burnt three weeks ago.
This is a reminder that heat can remain in burnt stumps and underground roots for weeks, even when everything appears to be out.
As we head towards another fire season, it’s a good reminder that fire can still pose a risk long after the flames have disappeared.
🚒 Now is the time to get prepared! Take a moment to work out your bushfire survival plan. Know what you’ll do if a fire threatens your property, where you’ll go, and what you’ll take with you. Don’t wait until a fire is nearby to make these decisions.
A little preparation now can make a big difference when it matters most.
Stay safe everyone!
Thanks Nuriootpa CFS Brigade for your help once again.

16:47 Monday arvo Truro were called to a vehicle fire on the highway. Crews found a camper van fully involved in fire on arrival. 2 BA ops got to work and quickly got the fire contained, thankfully not spreading too far from the vehicle. Unfortunately the camper was completely destroyed, but luckily no injuries were reported. Thanks Nuriootpa for the assist.

🚒❤️ A very special thank you! ❤️🚑
We had a lovely surprise at training last night, with the Barossa Ambulance crew dropping in with a cake (which tasted amazing) to thank our CFS volunteers for their assistance at a recent incident.
We certainly don’t do what we do for the thanks or recognition — we simply do what’s needed when our community needs us. But gestures like this mean more than you know and are very much appreciated by the whole crew. 🥰🎂
We’re proud to work alongside our fellow emergency services and support each other through some of the toughest situations.
Thank you, Barossa Ambulance , for the thoughtful gesture and for everything you do for our community. 🚑❤️🚒

Training isn't always on the fireground!
Tonight our brigade swapped hoses and trucks for Lego bricks and whiteboards as we focused on communication, teamwork, and having a bit of fun together.
Our first challenge saw 2 team member with the Lego instructions while the rest of the team had to build the model using only radio communication. It was a great reminder that clear, concise radio messages and active listening are essential skills in the CFS.
We wrapped up the evening with a few rounds of team Pictionary, encouraging problem-solving, teamwork, and plenty of laughs.
A great night strengthening the skills that help us work safely and effectively together when it matters most.

At training last night we had a visit from Tanunda CFS to show off their new truck! We also took the opportunity to have a look over the new Northern Barossa QRV based at Angaston.
