The Townsville City Council page exists to provide information on Council projects and initiatives. The Townsville City Council page is maintained by the

As part of the upcoming hazard reduction burn at Jezzine Barracks, public toilets in the area will be temporarily closed from 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟲 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀.

This temporary closure is in place to keep the community safe during the burn. 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗶𝘁𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.

Eco Fiesta 2026 🌿💚

A huge thank you to the thousands of locals who joined us at Anderson Gardens for Eco Fiesta on Sunday 7 June - celebrating sustainability, community and our environment.

From workshops and live entertainment to kids’ activities, food trucks and eco stalls, it was a fantastic day to connect, learn and get inspired.

🚶 𝗛𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 - 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘂𝗽!

Our crews will be out maintaining the creek line alongside the walking track, from Chapple Street through to Bayswater Road (both sides). These works focus on clearing invasive weeds to help improve waterways, habitat and water quality 🌿

Works kick off 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟱 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and will continue over the next couple of weeks (weather permitting), moving along the track as we go.

🚧 As part of this, there will be 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 on:
• Thursday 18 June 2026
• Friday 19 June 2026
• Monday 22 June 2026

As part of construction works to deliver the Hamilton Tank Reservoir renewal, there will be helicopter lift activities carried out over two separate days around Castle Hill this coming week.

To ensure the safety of workers and the community, sections of Maiden Hair and Goat tracks will be closed during these works.

The Ring Road will be closed overnight for scheduled cleaning from 9pm Saturday 13 June to 6am Sunday 14 June 2026.

🚧 Closure is in place from the on/off ramps near Lavarack Barracks through to the ramps adjacent to BIG4 Ingenia Holiday Park, Deeragun.

Traffic management will be in place, with access for emergency vehicles only during this time.

More than 𝟭𝟴𝟬 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀 of invasive water lettuce have been removed from Idalia’s wetlands in a nine-day clean-up, transforming waterways and boosting local wildlife. 🌿🐟

Council is now trialling long-term solutions while repurposing the weeds into healthy soil for city parks. 🌱
