🌧️ Wet weather update: it’s not just the crocs… 🐊
With the recent heavy rainfall across the region, we’re seeing localised flooding and large pools of standing water popping up in places you might not expect.
And while the jokes usually go straight to crocs 🐊 — they’re not the only things to be cautious of.
Floodwater can hide a whole range of less obvious (and far less photogenic) hazards, including:
⚠️ Debris like sharp metal, timber and broken glass
⚠️ Displaced rubbish and animal waste
⚠️ Contaminants from overflowing drains and sewage systems
⚠️ Bacteria in soil and water, including melioidosis
Even shallow-looking water can be risky — what you can’t see can still hurt you.
👉 Our advice:
• Avoid walking, driving or letting kids play in floodwater
• Wear protective footwear and gloves if you must be outside
• Wash thoroughly with soap and water if you come into contact
• Seek medical advice if you develop symptoms after exposure
Stay alert, stay informed, and let’s leave the water exploring to the wildlife.
💧🐊 When in doubt — stay out.
