A new bill has been launched that will further restrict Australian's freedoms for everyday citizens along with gun owners with severe criminal penalties for unapproved speech. These laws are along the line of the draconian UK laws that have resulted in 12,000 arrest annually for "offensive" social media posts between 2023 and 2025. Public consultation is only 48hours and close today at 4pm. Have your voice heard before its to late.

If you don't know where to start but still want to have your voice heard,The Free Speech Union of Australia has developed a tool to assist with selecting your critical concerns and drafting a submission.

Regular Break-ins and GTA appear to be continuing unabated in our region.

We need change.

Thank you to the Townsville Bulletin for shining a light on the shocking home invasion in Mundingburra last week I witnessed first hand.

Our homes should be our safe place — not a battleground. Hearing stories like this is gut wrenching, but they need to be told.

The more these horrors are shared, the harder it becomes for decision makers to look the other way. Our community is crying out for action. We’re scared, we’re angry, and we’ve had enough. 💔🛑

This letter to the editor in todays Townsville Bulletin echoes what I, and many others, am hearing right across our community: the heartfelt pleas of a battered and broken city, calling on our elected leaders to finally deliver on their promises. It’s well worth a read. 📰

Thankyou for covering this story Lilli. We have had enough!
The current sentences are not meeting community expecations. QLD was promised adult time for adult crime however this has not been the case in practice with light sentences still the norm.
For example, a few months back it was reported under the new laws a 16yr old received a 2 months sentence for 31 offences including assult, break and enter and stealing a car!

The calls I'm hearing from the community are:
1. Mandatory Minimum Sentencing.
2. Relocation Sentencing
3. Castle Law.

I’ll add in the article the Member for Mundingburra is quite pleased that in one case the sentencing for stealing a car was increased from 6 months to 18 months since the new laws.

However, this is still a far cry from the communities expectations of “adult time” (14years max) and how it is being implemented is still not really a deterrent.

We need change.

📣 A big congratulations to Dad, Bob Katter, on winning his 12th federal election!

It’s no small feat to earn the trust of your community time and time again — but Bob’s never wavered in his fight for the people of North Queensland. He’s as relentless and passionate today as he was when he first entered Parliament, and I reckon that fire will never go out.
