So today this happened, 2x 5m+ male scrub pythons combating in a bushland beach backyard. 🤯

The brutality of this combat was nothinf like id ever witnessed and will post all videos in a seperate post, they were quite literally killing eachother.

This wasnt only a difficult job but a semi dangerous one also. I called in Alan who wasnt far so we could grab one each.

The largest was 5.2m and the other was pretty much bang on 5m. Absolute giants, some of the biggest weve seen in Townsville. These snakes weighed over 30kg each very comfortably.

This was an experience of a lifetime and im so grateful to share it with Alan.

Rescue job today for this unwell big Mulga snake, messaged in by one of the council workers on site up at the kelso Dam.

Snake was displaying abnormal behaviour and not moving much for hours on end, i travelled a long 30 minute 4wd hike through the dam catchment to its location.

Snake was displaying severe neurological issues which we still arnt 100% reasons for, we suspect some form of poisoning or toxin is to blame. Snake had absolutely zero external injuries and was in incredible health outside of the obvious neauro it was displaying.

Snake was brought to JCU for euthanasia and we will come up with a plan as to what happens with its remains, whether a necropsy is performed or if it will be used as a preserved wet specimen for education.

A sad end to another gorgeous animal.

Apologies to those that may find this confronting, please stop reading and scroll on if this may effect you.

A very sad unfortunate end to this gorgeous large scrub python, called in by a passer by detailing the snake had fallen from powerlines and was displaying minimal life road side, i was heading to a snake in complete opposite direction of town so jeyn acted swiftly and headed out to bushland beach, unfortunately nothing could be done to bring back life to the snake, a vet trip even further supported evidence that this snake got electrocuted, irregular extremely fast heart beat, slow pupil constriction and parts of its body that was “seized” and unable to be manipulated. Snake was humanely put to sleep.

A proper autopsy and research dissection will now take place.

This scrub python weighed 15.3kg and 4.52m long.

Just received a call for this escaped green tree python, a non native to area species that is definitely someones much loved pet.

Same protocol as usual if you believe yours please contact with proof of permit log book, address it was lost from and any supporting documentation and or photos.

Snake will be surrendered after holding period as per permit stipulations.

Got him.

Just yesterday i got a call for a huge taipan out at wulguru. As previous post suggested we were unable to locate it.

Today i got the call that the same snake was back! Hanging around the coop just like yesterday, i raced out instantly dropping my saturday plans to get there as quickly as possible.

The owners again did an amazing job keeping eye on it and during my 20 min travels, kept updating me of its movements.

As soon as i approached snake i knew something was wrong, it barely moved and wasnt behaving at all taipan like. I quickly realised it had severe back injuries. I suspect that it was hit by a car at some stage this morning as injuries followed suit of blunt force trauma about the width of a tyre.

Not the situation i wished to attend. A beautiful big snake of 2.2m. I euthanised snake and brought its pain to an end.

The one that got away! 🐍

Spewing about this one, a confirmed over 2m coastal taipan in wulguru. Unfortunately snake had an interaction with 2 chickens and killed them both. One reportedly dying within minutes of being bitten, most likely stepping or pecking at the snake while it was looking for a snack of rats in the coop.

I headed out and spent nearly an hour and a half looking and pulling apart a wood pile that was the last confirmed sighting of where the snake was to no prevail. Owners did an amazing job trying to keep eye on the snake as it moved around the yard at pace.

Would of absolutely loved to have a dance with this one! Ready for the call back if it returns 😎!
