The Fabulous Four are always ready to devour their bouquet at night.
Bonny, Clyde, Ginger and Milo range in weight between 250 and 340 grams. They are almost ready to go to their large Release Aviary at Foster Carer Leanne’s in Panmure, where they will sleep all day. Nighttime will see them eating, playing, jumping and generally building their confidence, muscle tone and strength, until they reach the magic weight and maturity to be released.

This is the last crèche to be released this season, now we may have a short break until the heat stressed animals start coming in.
I managed to break my wrist at the beginning of December and have had to rely heavily on help from volunteers Alexis, Leanne and Simon to bring food, clean cages, facilitate releases and transports. It’s hard work and I so appreciate and thank them for their time and effort.
Happy New Year to you all from Possum Place Wildlife Shelter 🫶🏻👍

You can dress up and get day drunk literally anywhere else, where animals aren't being harmed. Full story in the comments.

This is Rose in her own new cage after she was beaten up last night by Sqeak and Colby (below) when we tried to integrate her. They had all been living side by side for a week or so, but after a few squabbles and retreats, things became serious at 1am this morning.
All are making up for lost time in the eating dept. 🤦‍♀️

Miss Tilly who was so fragile when she first came into care, has almost hit the magic weight thst will allow her and Nipper to move on to her new release site.

Meet ‘Squeak’. Found alone and abandoned this little girl has a long road ahead. At a mighty 58grams she is still not putting on weight despite her drinking every drop of formula offered.
We hope with lots of patience and good care she will make it through to release. 🙏🤞❤️

This morning I settled two little ringy bubs each in their own sleeping bags for the day. They hadn’t met so I kind of kept an ear out all day just in case they squabbled.
All good.
Tonight I get them up for dinner and oh dear- the blue pouch is empty 😳
Look again and I see the teeny tiny tail of Tilly having a visit with her neighbour. Nex Minit ….. they are cuddled up protecting each other from the hand thst feeds them 🙄

Tilly doesn’t want to give up the teat after her formula tonight ( well anytime really). She is such a funny girl big, big, attitude.

Intruducing Tilley. She is a 68gram ringtail possum. Here she is in a ‘milk coma’ after a big drink of formula. Touch and go with this girl. Came in at a tiny 58g, but she is trying to stay. Not sure what happened to the rest of her family but we will find a buddy for her soon if she continues to grow strong.

Kangaroos have incredible personalities. They are all different. They experience fear, joy, hunger, fun, pain, frustration, comfort, annoyance, sadness, and love. They develop strong friendships that can last for life. If they lose a loved one, they grieve, they can go into depression. Sometimes they never fully recover from the loss of a family member or soulmate. They are much like us.

When kangaroos are killed for fun, for 'management', for dog food, by dogs, or by accident, there is likely to be much pain and sadness felt by their friends and members of their family. Why can't people understand the damage they do to our beautiful animals, when I am sure most cherish their pets and would do anything to protect them? How can they be so blind? So hypocritical? So callous?

Who believes our Wildlife don’t grieve for partners, siblings, their babies?
And yet we continue to uproot, remove and trash their environment without a single thought.
AI it is not. It’s real, relevant and happening now.
