It was fantastic to see so many cadets and staff coming together, supporting one another, and getting involved in such a positive and rewarding event.

Celebrating 125 Years of the Australian Army

Today, 13 Army Cadet Unit proudly joins the nation in celebrating 125 Years of the Australian Army.

Since 1901, the Australian Army has served our nation with courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment. From Gallipoli to modern peacekeeping and humanitarian operations, generations of soldiers have upheld the values of duty, honor, and service.

As an Australian Army Cadet Unit, we are proud to carry forward the traditions, discipline, and leadership foundations inspired by the Army. Our cadets learn not only fieldcraft and skills, but resilience, teamwork, and respect — values that have defined the Army for 125 years.

Today we acknowledge:
• Those who served
• Those who continue to serve
• And the legacy that inspires our cadets every week

13 ACU remains committed to developing young Australians who understand the meaning of service — whether in uniform or in the community.

Happy 125th Birthday to the Australian Army.

Duty First.

On Saturday night, 13 Army Cadet Unit marked a milestone — 70 years of shaping young Australians and serving the Toowoomba Region. Since 1955, thousands of cadets have worn the 13 ACU patch with pride, building confidence, character, and strong foundations for their future.

Our 70th Anniversary Dining-In Night was a fitting tribute to that history. Cadets, staff, and former members came together to honour the traditions, achievements, and people who have carried this unit through seven decades.

We were honoured to be joined by distinguished guests who continue to support youth development in our region:
• COL Athanasios Tsamis, Commander South East Queensland Army Cadets
• Trevor Watts MP, State Member for Toowoomba North
• Cr Carol Taylor, Councillor, Toowoomba Regional Council
• MAJ Jack Timm, representing the Commanding Officer, 7th Signal Regiment
• Mr Peter Cains, President, Toowoomba RSL Sub Branch
• Mr Huey James, Deputy President, Toowoomba RSL Sub Branch

Their presence reinforced the strong community connections that support our cadets and this unit.

To every staff member past and present — thank you for your leadership, dedication, and service. Your commitment has shaped generations of young people.
To our cadets — you represented the unit with professionalism, teamwork, and pride, just as those before you have done for 70 years.

Here’s to our past, and to the next chapter of 13 ACU.
70 years strong.

This week, CDTCPL Seegers and CDTCPL Anderson travelled down to attend the Chief of Army Cadet Team Challenge.

They didn’t just represent 13ACU — they proudly represented South Queensland in a demanding national event that brought together teams from Army, Navy, and Air Force Cadets from across Australia, as well as a team of Defence Force Cadets from New Zealand.

The challenge involved a series of tough activities, scenarios, and long-distance movements over some incredibly difficult terrain. It tested every aspect of teamwork, endurance, and leadership.

While South Queensland may not have come home with the win this year, both Seegers and Anderson gave it their all. They performed exceptionally and represented 13ACU with pride, determination, and honour.

Well done to both of you – your unit is incredibly proud! 👏💪🇦🇺
