🧪 National Titration Competition

Our Year 11 and 12 Chemistry students recently put their precision, accuracy and practical science skills to the test in the National Titration Competition, run by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.

A special congratulations to Yasmin, who received a High Distinction with an incredible percentage error of less than 0.4%, and Abbie, who received a Competent Certificate.

Well done to all students who dedicated time to practising before school each week! 👏🔬

🔬 Science in Action! 🌱

Earlier this year, a group of our Year 11 and 12 students completed a Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement, gaining valuable hands-on experience in real-world science.

Across the four-day course, students put their skills into practice by testing soil samples at school and assessing water quality at a local waterbird habitat.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop practical skills, experience science beyond the classroom and explore the wide range of career pathways available in the field. 🧪🌿

⚽ Football Gala Days ⚽

Our senior boys and girls recently represented Toowoomba State High School in two competitive football gala days.

Our Boys SSI Cup team played some great football against tough opposition, recording a win, two draws and two narrow losses. The boys remained in contention for a semi-final spot right up to their final match, with a highlight being a hard-fought draw against a visiting USA team. Thank you to Lachie Peden for coaching and to our Year 12 boys for their contribution to school football over the years.

Our Years 10–12 girls competed in the Red Lion Cup, securing a win, a draw and two hard-fought losses while displaying fantastic spirit and sportsmanship throughout the day.

Well done to both teams for representing Lofty with pride! 👏⚽

Congratulations to Year 12 student Coen and Year 11 student Talitha, who recently took part in Design Tracks, an annual First Nations art education program hosted by QAGOMA Learning.

Throughout the multi-day program, students worked alongside established First Nations creative mentors, developed their artistic skills and explored future pathways within the Creative Industries.

What a fantastic opportunity to connect, create and learn alongside artists and other young creatives from across Queensland. We are proud to see Coen and Talitha representing Toowoomba State High School!

Five of our talented Year 12 Visual Art students, Sharli, Evie, Bridie, Milly-May and Lotus, currently have their artworks on display as part of the Future Visions Art Competition at UniSQ.

It was fantastic to see their work presented in a professional gallery setting and to celebrate this achievement with them.

A special congratulations to Sharli, who received 2nd Place in the Environmental Science category and Evie, who received 2nd Place in the Open category.

Their artworks will remain on display at UniSQ until mid-September, so there is still time to see their incredible work in person.

Congratulations to all five students on this fantastic achievement!
