🎂 Happy 100th Birthday, Ray!

At 100 years young, Ray may just be our oldest volunteer in the Toowoomba Region and he’s still generously giving his time to care for our bushland parks.

A proud member of Friends of the Escarpment Parks since 2004,
Ray is part of a dedicated group working alongside Council to help conserve 16 bushland reserves across our region.

Ray and his late wife Eunice migrated to Australia in 2003, and their contribution has been truly inspiring.

Thank you, Ray, for your incredible service and love for our environment.

Sons of legends 🙌

It was great to catch up with Arthur Beetson’s son, Brad, and a real privilege to hold the prized Origin Shield with him!

Special memories reflecting on that incredible moment in rugby league history on July 8, 1980 — Dad as coach for Queensland in the very first State of Origin, and Arthur coming from Parramatta Reserve Grade to lead the winning Maroons as Captain 20-10.

🙌🏽 🎉 to Brad on being named the 2026 QRL - Queensland Rugby League’s Indigenous Volunteer of the Year.

🎂 Happy 100th Birthday Reg Murphy.

Blessed with genes of longevity, Reg doesn’t seem to change too much with age.

Reg said “I’m a bit slower during the cold days but pretty mobile otherwise”. His mind is sharp and his thoughts on how rugby league has changed are a worthwhile listen.

While successful in all these areas, it’s Reg’s 🏉 refereeing of the game that most in the Toowoomba Rugby League will be familiar with.

He was famously known as a “referee wizard” who officiated at the highest local levels during his era.
