It was lovely to see Brad, Hannah and Hudson visit us at Central this week, which was an opportune time to present Brad with a certificate of appreciation. Over a four-year period Brad served the Brigade as a Lieutenant, appliance driver and fire fighter prior to leaving Toodyay at the end of the season and subsequently joining the Byford Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade. We wish them all the best for the future.

Today we held our regular Friday evening truck checks, just another activity we ask our volunteers to attend to make sure all our appliances are in working order. Mel Deighton is one of our new volunteers and as well as helping on Fridays she also attended her first two callouts this week. Congratulations to Mel for successfully completing the courses needed to volunteer with our brigade and then following through with the commitment to help others.
Additionally, thank you to all our volunteers who answered the calls this week.

Toodyay Central Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade would like to thank our members who attended the AGM this evening. Our gratitude goes out to all those who volunteered to take on committee and Brigade positions.

During the meeting we acknowledged John Morrissey’s efforts in awarding him Volunteer of the Year for 2025/2026. This award is an acknowledgement from the leadership team. He has consistently turned out throughout the year, made sure our supplies were kept current and plentiful at all times, attended brigade activities and promoted a great team spirit.

The Brigade also acknowledged Chris Stothers with a Certificate of Appreciation. This certificate was awarded for continued loyal and devoted support to both callouts and other related activities. As did the Certificate of Appreciation awarded to Aaron Robertson one of our newest volunteers.

We wish Brad Gardiner and Julian Little, who left us during the year, all the best and thank them for the time and effort they gave our brigade.

This year our brigade has provided 2799 volunteer hours protecting residents and property in Toodyay and surrounding areas. Our brigade operated with 35 active members of which 26 attended at least one incident. We thank all our active members for this mighty effort. “We put fires out” is our motto and one you have all excelled at. Furthermore, we acknowledge and thank all our members who have kept our brigade running so professionally, with great team work and a happy atmosphere, during the past 12 months.

Another day of multiple phone alerts. Thank you to Kevin Sullivan, Dan Mason, Peter Brennan, Dave White, Sean Stothers, Aaron Robertson, Brian Clarkson and all those who answered the multiple calls.
Even if you have remembered the basics, vigilance, awareness of your fire and surroundings, as well as having a good water supply on hand, conditions can change quickly so if you are unable to handle the situation don’t hesitate in calling 000.
