BRINGING NEW ENERGY TO THE HUNTER - CAMPAIGN

As a proud industrial powerhouse, the Hunter region is home to essential infrastructure, skilled workers and know-how. Now as Australia moves toward net zero, this region is uniquely placed to build on this industrial heritage by creating a secure and thriving economy for the future.

The Australian Government will work together with local communities to support them to seize the economic opportunities of net zero and share in the benefits. This includes support to empower workers in the Hunter to be part of the new clean energy workforce, with training, reskilling and new employment opportunities.

BRINGING NEW ENERGY TO THE HUNTER - CAMPAIGN

Across Australia, governments, businesses and communities are working together to reach net zero emissions by 2050. Net zero is a term we're hearing more and more, but what does it actually mean?

Simply put, net zero means balancing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that go into and are removed from the atmosphere. In order to meet our 2050 net zero goals, Australia is undergoing a major economic transformation. This includes building new green industries of the future, like hydrogen and advanced manufacturing, and decarbonising our important sectors like mining and agriculture.

We are also building renewable energy generation and storage projects like wind, solar and batteries to provide more affordable, cleaner energy for local households and businesses. This transformation is creating new jobs, investment and growth opportunities for the future.
