🎃👻 HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM THE ROCK UNIT!👻🎃

🚨🧡 Paddy the Platypus and the crew are getting into the spooky spirit this Halloween!

🍬 Out trick-or-treating around town this afternoon?

Make sure you stop by, say G’day to our friendly NSW SES volunteers and grab a treat… or maybe a trick! 👻🍭

💬 Got a question about storms, floods, emergency preparedness or what we do at the SES?

We're always happy to have a chat! Come and meet the crew, ask a few questions and enjoy some Halloween fun.

🌧️ A LITTLE REMINDER FROM PADDY! 🌧️

With all this wet weather around, please take extra care while you're out enjoying Halloween.

☔ Watch out for slippery footpaths and wet roads.

🔦 Carry a torch and wear something bright so drivers can see you.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Keep the little ghosts and goblins together and supervise children near roads.

💧 Stay away from floodwater and remember — never drive, walk or ride through floodwater!

🎃 A little rain won't scare Paddy, but staying safe is always our number one priority!

🧡 Have a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween, stay safe and we hope to see you out and about!

🎃👻🍬🚨

🔥 A permit is required to light fires in the open. Permits are free from your local Rural Fire Brigade or Fire Control Centre.

🌾 Recent spring rain has produced plenty of grass and crop growth, and as it dries out it can carry fast-moving grass fires.

🚜 Last season we saw significant fire activity from harvesting and hot works used in the open. If you’re harvesting, or working with angle grinders or welders, have adequate fire protection on hand before you start.

🛡️ Now is the time to maintain your fire breaks around key farm assets like sheds, machinery, fuel and grain storage, and homesteads.

📱 Download the Hazards Near Me app for real-time fire information, fire danger ratings, total fire bans and harvest safety alerts.

Well-built, well-maintained fire breaks give fire crews a place to work from and can stop or slow a fire before it reaches your fences, feed, sheds and house. This image shows how a clear break held the fire to one area.

With fire season here, now is the time to check yours:
✅ Slash, grade or graze to reduce fuel
✅ Clear access tracks, gates and turnarounds so crews and trucks can get through
✅ Keep breaks wide, clear and joined up along boundaries and around assets
✅ Check your firebreak and fuel reduction requirements, and talk to your local RFS brigade or District office before burning

How are your fire breaks looking right now?

Tonight members of The Rock RFS were out and about town checking fire hydrants after Saturday”s unfortunate structure fire. Do you have a fire hydrant near your house? Does it look like these ones? In times of need, our members require access in a hurry. We ask locals if they could keep them clear of gravel or grass. That will make our job easier.
