On Saturday we were requested from Ambulance east of Tenterfield to extract a patient . Due to extreme terrain the patient had sustained multiple injuries. The remote area where the patient was located proved difficult to extricate and required the rescue helicopter to winch insert a medical treat and transport the patient to Lismore hospital for further care.

⚠️ DOUBLE DEMERITS FROM MIDNIGHT
- STATEWIDE

- 6:30PM, Thursday 19th December

Double demerits will be in force across NSW from from 12.01am Friday, December 20 and conclude at 11:59pm on Wednesday, January 1 2025.

Double demerit points apply for; speeding, illegal use of mobile phones, not wearing a seatbelt and riding without a motorcycle helmet.

Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism Yasmin Catley said: "This is such a special time of year – a chance to celebrate with family and friends but it’s also one of the most dangerous times to be on the road."

“Some people think it’s okay to check a text, speed on familiar roads, or drive tired, but road rules exist to keep everyone safe. While police will be out and about patrolling this holiday season, it’s up to all of us to take responsibility – and if you do the wrong thing, you can expect to see red and blue lights in your rear-view mirror.

“You don’t want to get a fine in the mail or lose your licence, but even worse, you don’t want to be the reason someone misses out on celebrating with their loved ones this Christmas.

“So please, drive like your life depends on it – because it does."

The Bureau of Meteorology is advising that much of NSW is at risk of thunderstorm activity today, with some regions likely to experience severe storms.

Large hail, damaging winds, and intense rainfall are possible across the western ranges, slopes and plains, as well as parts of the northern and central coast. Some storm cells may produce heavy, slow-moving rainfall, leading to flash flooding, particularly across the Illawarra, Sydney Metropolitan Area, Hunter and southern Mid North Coast.

Please remember: If it’s flooded, forget it.

Thunderstorms are already active in parts of Sydney, the Illawarra and the Alpine region, and storm activity may continue late into tonight and into early Saturday, with a possible redevelopment of storms in the far west as a cold front approaches. Conditions can change quickly, and storms may form with little notice, so please stay alert for updates. We’ll continue to share new information as it becomes available.

We’re encouraging everyone to take a few moments now to get storm ready
• Secure or pack away loose outdoor items
• Park vehicles away from trees where possible
• Clear gutters and drains
• Trim low or overhanging branches that could cause damage in strong winds

For assistance from NSW SES, call 132 500.

For life-threatening emergencies, call 000 immediately.
Stay safe, everyone. 🌩️⚡️

The Bureau of Meteorology is advising that our region may still see thunderstorms throughout this evening and into tomorrow, with some areas at risk of severe storm activity.
There is also the potential for intense rainfall from certain storm cells, which could lead to rapid river rises and flash flooding. Please remember: If it’s flooded, forget it.
We’re encouraging everyone to take a few moments to get storm-ready. Secure or pack away loose items around your property, park vehicles away from trees where possible, clear gutters, and trim any low or overhanging branches that could cause damage in strong winds.
Storm activity may continue into tomorrow and possibly Saturday. Conditions can change quickly, and storms may form with little notice, so please keep an eye on updates, we’ll share new information as soon as we have it.
If you need help from NSW SES, call 132 500. For life-threatening situations, dial 000 immediately.
