Council Meeting Wrap-Up | 26 AUGUST 2026
Following Council’s August Ordinary Meeting on 26 August 2026, a number of key decisions were made relating to water, community facilities, tourism, local infrastructure and services across the Shire.
Here’s a recap of what was discussed and resolved:
• The updated Drought Management Plan was adopted, incorporating proposed changes to water restriction triggers following community consultation. A further review is expected as part of the Integrated Water Cycle Management (IWCM) project.
• The proposal to name the theatre within the Sir Henry Parkes Memorial School of Arts the “Peter Allen Theatre” was received, with the proposal now on public exhibition until 15 September 2026.
• The progress of the Angry Bull Trails project was discussed, further information on the proposed “green zone” project will be provided to Council by the proponent, prior to Council considering the matter.
• Pavement investigations and rehabilitation design for five local roads were approved, subject to final funding arrangements with the NSW Reconstruction Authority.
• A second permanent full-time Community Compliance Officer (Ranger) position was approved.
• Public Forums will now be live-streamed, following an amendment to Council’s Code of Meeting Practice adopted at the meeting. This will provide greater visibility of public presentations and participation in Council meetings.
• The Mayor acknowledged and gave thanks to the Tenterfield Regional Australia Bank Community Building Partnership, on contributions raised totalling $122,236.52 and being distributed through the local community. Congratulations to all local recipients!
