Emergency services exercise at Taree Airport 🚨

You may notice increased emergency service activity around Taree Airport tomorrow morning as crews take part in a routine emergency exercise.

The exercise will simulate an aircraft incident, with emergency services responding under lights and sirens to test their readiness and coordination.

Most activity will take place between the Manning Entertainment Centre and Taree Airport, including along Manning River Drive.

⏰ Morning to around midday

If you're travelling through the area, please stay alert and keep an eye out for emergency vehicles.

🍾 Empty w**e bottles go in your yellow bin, 🥛 but drinking glasses belong in your red bin - here’s why!

🟨 Glass bottles and jars are fully recyclable. Visy, our partner, turns them back into brand-new bottles and jars.

🟥Tumblers and drinking glasses have a higher melting point and can’t be recycled with bottles and jars. Putting the wrong glass in your recycling can affect the batch quality and even send it to landfill unnecessarily.

Unsure if an item can be recycled? Our website makes it easy to check what garbage goes where. 🔗 www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/RightBin

ℹ️ Today's update from Deputy Mayor Jeremy Miller. Here is a summary of yesterday's Council meeting, held on Wednesday 2 September.

💰 Our draft financial statements for 2025-26 are now heading off to the NSW Audit Office for an independent review. Once audited, the statements will be placed on public exhibition for the community to view. This is a standard practice for all NSW Councils.

🚗 Council will repay the outstanding balance of a $4.5 million load originally taken out to help fund the new Cedar Party Creek Bridge. With the project coming in under its original budget and with the support of additional State Government contributions, only around $328,000 of the loan was utilised. This allows us to pay off the loan 19 years earlier than anticipated.

🏈 Drainage improvements are coming to the Taree Recreation Grounds, Old Bar Sports Fields and the EG Trad Fields. Council will work with sports clubs to minimise the disruption.
