TRENT JENNISON AWARDED OAM: A Legacy That Lives On

Valley Industries is proud to acknowledge the posthumous award of a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) to our former Chief Executive Officer, Trent Jennison, in recognition of his service to community health, people with disability and social welfare.

This honour is a fitting recognition of a man who dedicated his whole working life in the service of helping others and who always showed genuine care and concern in the lives staff, participants, families and community members, often going above and beyond.

As CEO of Valley Industries from 2011 to 2022 Trent was bold, courageous and determined proving that obstacles were just opportunities not yet realised. His achievements in business whilst significant, were driven by his vision to provide meaningful opportunities in employment, housing and community inclusion for people living with disability.

Within Valley Industries Trent’s legacy will live on. His impact has had a profound positive effect on hundreds of people in employment programs, supported homes, inclusive social and community programs and health services. His vision, courage and determination continue to inspire the values that guide our organisation today.

As the cooler weather settles in, Valley Vintage is looking for donations of quality winter items to help keep our shelves stocked and our community warm.

We would greatly appreciate donations of:

🧥 Men's, women's and children's warm jackets, jumpers and winter clothing
🛏️ Clean quilts and blankets (no stains please)
🛏️ Flannelette sheets
🧺 Towels

To help us make the most of our available space, we kindly ask that summer clothing be held onto until the weather warms up again.

🎉CONGRATULATIONS TO CARL ON 10 YEARS OF SERVICE! 🎉

Earlier this week, we celebrated Carl on reaching an incredible 10 years with Valley Industries.

Carl is a valued member of our Valley Secure Documents team, working hard four days a week and keeping busy on the shredding machine. Carl is a great part of the team and always brings plenty of personality to the workplace.

When he’s not at work, Carl enjoys spending time at the sale yards and working hard on the farm, tending to the cows — something he’s very proud of and always happy to talk about!

🎉🎂 HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY LOCHLANE! 🎂🎉

A big happy birthday to Lochlane, who celebrated turning 18 yesterday! 🥳

Lochlane is part of our TTW crew, working across a range of departments including Valley Café, Valley Vintage, Nature’s Care Nursery and Valley Timber, as well as working with the Complete Grounds Care team out in the community.

Since starting with us back in February, Lochlane has done an amazing job settling in, working as part of a team and learning lots of new skills along the way.

Well done, Lochlane — we’re proud of how far you’ve come already and look forward to seeing what’s ahead for you. Enjoy celebrating this special milestone and thank you for sharing your cake with us today!!

🐝🐝 HAPPY WORLD BEE DAY! 🐝🐝

Bees may be small, but their impact is huge—pollinating the plants that feed our planet and keep ecosystems thriving. 🌼

May 20 was World Bee Day, and we had a buzzing morning decorating bee-themed cupcakes and celebrating bees and other pollinators!

Joined by Di Woollard, past president of Taree Rotary Club and a professional cake decorator, provided hands-on coaching to everyone to celebrate the amazing role bees play in our world.

All proceeds from the workshop went to supporting a beekeeping project in a remote village in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Project manager Lucy Hobgood-Brown is a Wingham resident who grew up in the village, and who facilitates two Rotary Australia World Community Service projects there.

We were fortunate to have Kristy Peterson deliver the Growing Financial Futures program to some of our supported employees. Kristy has a distinguished 30-year career spanning management and finance and is passionate about bridging the gap between high-level business expertise and human-centred wellbeing.

Delivered over six weeks, the program helped participants strengthen everyday money skills and build confidence in making informed financial decisions. It was inspiring to see the growth in knowledge and self‑assurance throughout the journey.
