What a fantastic week celebrating High Potential and Gifted Education at CHS!

Year 6 students had the opportunity to experience a range of programs across CHACE, Aboriginal Education and the Talented Athlete Program, giving them a glimpse into the exciting pathways, learning experiences and opportunities available at Chatham High School.

A huge thank you to all students, staff and primary schools involved in making HPGE Week such a success. We loved welcoming you and sharing what CHS has to offer.

Today, select TAP students that have completed the Beyond The Goalposts referees course were lucky enough to assist in officiating the PSSA Classic Manning Gala Day. Students gained further experience touch judging and refereeing in a competitive primary school competition and have shown development in knowledge and confidence with the whistle in hand.
Thanks to the NRL game development team and all the primary schools that took part in an exciting day.

πŸ’™ Chatham High School recently welcomed batyr to work with our Stage 5 and Stage 6 students, sharing powerful lived-experience stories and encouraging open conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

Students engaged in honest discussions about looking out for one another, breaking down stigma, and knowing when and how to reach out for support. The sessions sparked some great reflections around being there for friends, listening without judgement, and remembering that no one has to go through things alone.

We’re grateful to batyr for helping strengthen a culture of connection, support, and understanding across our school community. πŸ’™

Supported Learning students have completed their first week of a new program with Sowters Equestrian, and just look at those smiles! 🐴😊
Over the next 10 weeks, students will be developing a range of skills involved in interacting and engaging with horses. From building confidence and communication skills to learning safe horse handling and care, this exciting program offers valuable hands-on experiences and plenty of opportunities for personal growth.
It's already the talk of the playground, with students excitedly sharing their experiences and counting down the days until their next session!
We can't wait to see their progress and share more of their journey in the weeks ahead! ✨🐎

TAP Rugby League students were treated this afternoon to a training session delivered by former NRL & New Zealand legend, now Newcastle Knights Pathways Development Coach, Shaun Kenny-Dowall.

The students were run through a range of warmup activities and skill development drills before finishing with a game. Thanks to SKD for taking the time to help develop the young athletes in our rugby league program.

On Wednesday night, students from Chatham High School attended game 1 of the State Of Origin in Sydney. For the majority who attended, this was their first taste of a live origin game. With the rollercoaster of emotions throughout the game and amazing crowd atmosphere, it’s sure to be remembered for a very long time.
