FLOOD WARNINGS SURVEY - MAY 2025 EVENT

Were you affected by the floods in the Mid North Coast of New South Wales in May 2025?

We want to hear your story.

An online survey is now open to share your story, with a chance to win a $150 Woolies voucher.

This independent research is funded by Natural Hazards Research Australia (NHRA), is being undertaken by Macquarie University, and is supported by NSW State Emergency Service (SES) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

We want to hear from anyone who was affected by the floods.

We are especially interested in hearing from people who received flood warnings or had to (or were told to) evacuate during the floods.

Every story is important.

Your input could influence future emergency management responses regarding flood warnings, flood evacuation procedures, and understanding of community vulnerabilities in order to improve safety and resilience to future flooding.

Every story counts. share yours by:

If you’ve ever felt that quiet pull to do something that truly matters — this might be it.

Joining the NSW State Emergency Service isn’t about being a hero. It’s about being willing.

Willing to learn.
Willing to train.
Willing to show up when your community needs you most.

From storms and floods to road crash rescue and community education, SES volunteers are everyday people who step forward in extraordinary moments. Teachers. Tradies. Parents. Students. Retirees. People just like you.

You don’t need experience — you’ll be trained and supported every step of the way. What matters most is commitment, teamwork, and a desire to serve something bigger than yourself.

Volunteering with the SES means:
• Gaining practical, real-world skills
• Building lifelong friendships
• Strengthening your leadership and resilience
• Making a genuine difference in your local community

Sometimes the call to serve is loud.
Sometimes it’s quiet.
But when the storm hits, you’ll be glad you answered it.

Join the SES. Because when it matters most, someone needs to show up. Join today at https://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/volunteer.

🧡 Hey SES Members🧡

Just a little message to say… you’re amazing.

Every time you show up to training after a long day.
Every time you roll out in wild weather.
Every time you quietly help someone on what might be their worst day — it matters.

The orange isn’t just a uniform.
It’s kindness.
It’s courage.
It’s community.

Thank you for the early mornings, the late nights, the soggy boots, the teamwork, the laughs at muster, and the way you always have each other’s backs.

SES is special because of people like you.

Proud to stand alongside you. 🧡
