This morning, our Wellbeing Team and Brekky Club helped us recognise R U OK? Day with toasties, fresh fruit and plenty of welcoming smiles! 🍞🍎😊

Students were encouraged to take a moment to check in with their friends, start a conversation and share positive messages with others. 💬💛

R U OK? Day is an important reminder that a simple question can make a difference. You don’t need to be an expert to reach out — sometimes just taking the time to listen and show you care is enough.

A big thank you to our Wellbeing Team and Brekky Club for creating such a positive and welcoming start to the day. 💛

This Thursday 10th September, we’re giving Brekky Club a little R U OK? Day twist!

📍 PC Canteen from 8am
🍳 Grab some brekky
💛 Wear a splash of yellow – bows, bracelets, socks, ribbons… whatever you’ve got!

We’ll also have Conversation Tables set up with conversation starter cards. Pick a card, have a chat and get to know the people around you a little better. Sometimes a simple conversation can make a big difference.

Come along, grab some food, check in with your mates and remember – you don’t need to be an expert to ask “R U OK?” 💛

Looking for a fun, active and friendly sport for your child this season?

Come and join BITS Cricket Club! Cricket is a fantastic way for kids to get active, learn new skills, build confidence, make new friends and be part of a supportive club community.

Whether your child is picking up a bat for the first time or already loves cricket, we welcome boys and girls of all abilities. With junior teams, great coaches and plenty of fun both on and off the field, there’s a place for everyone at BITS Cricket Club.

Keeping every student safe and focused on learning.

Students should only leave the classroom with their teacher's permission. This ensures teachers always know where students are, helps keep everyone safe and reduces unnecessary interruptions to learning.

Students who leave class without permission during lesson time will have their attendance changed to an unauthorised absence.

Families can support this important expectation by encouraging students to speak with their teacher before leaving the classroom for any reason. Working together helps us create a safe, respectful and productive learning environment where every minute counts.

Get ready to finish the term with some fun in the sun at Tannum Sands Main Beach on Friday of Week 10, September 18!

This year’s theme is “Dress for the Wrong Event & Anything but a Beach Bag” 👗🎿👜😴

Think princess dresses, ski gear, pyjamas… or whatever completely inappropriate beach outfit you can dream up! And don’t forget — anything but a beach bag for your gear! 😂

🚨 FIRE DRILL NOTICE 🚨

Tannum Sands State High School is currently conducting a scheduled fire drill.

Please be assured this is a drill only and there is no cause for concern. These drills are an important part of ensuring our students and staff are familiar with emergency procedures.

🏆PEDAL PRIX – 1ST PLACE 🏆

What an incredible weekend for our Tannum Sands SHS Pedal Prix Team, taking on a 16-hour overnight race at the Brisbane International Cycling Centre!

Our team of 10 students produced an outstanding result, finishing:

🥇 1st Place – Junior Boys
🏁 10th Overall
👉 439 laps
📏 An incredible 513.63km!

And they did it all in a brand-new bike that arrived in pieces at 9pm the night before the race! After a very quick build, the team had it ready to hit the track — and what a debut it was, reaching speeds in excess of 50km/h! 💨

A huge thank you to our Tannum Sands SHS P&C for generously sponsoring the new vehicle, and to Mr Hill, Mr Di**le and Mr Hambling for the countless hours they have dedicated to supporting the team. Thank you also to our wonderful parents for their ongoing support. 💙💛

Congratulations to all 10 students — you should be incredibly proud of this achievement. Tannum High certainly is! 👏👏

📚 YEAR 11 & 12 EXAM BLOCK 📚

A reminder to our senior students and families that the Year 11 & 12 Exam Block begins tomorrow, Tuesday 8 September, and concludes Wednesday 16 September.

Students have been issued with their individual exam timetables and are only required to attend school at the times indicated on their timetable.

As you head into exams, remember to:

📝 Come prepared with all required equipment
⏰ Arrive with plenty of time before your exam
📖 Take time to revise and prepare
😴 Get a good night’s sleep
💪 Give each exam your very best effort!

We wish all of our Year 11 and 12 students the very best for their exams. Trust in the work you have put in, stay focused and finish strong! 💙💛
