NSW SES Tambar Springs Unit

NSW SES Tambar Springs Unit The NSW SES (New South Wales State Emergency Service) Tambar Springs Unit is the local combat agency

The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency, preparedness and response service dedicated to assisting the community of NSW. It is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 229 units located throughout the state. The units comprise of approximately 10,000 volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange overalls. While our core responsibilities are for flood, sto

rm and tsunami operations, the NSW SES also provides support to general rescue efforts in the State. This includes Road Crash Rescue (RCR), Vertical Rescue (VR), Urban Search and Rescue (USR), evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural) and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats. Volunteers in a number of isolated communities have also been trained as Community First Responders by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales. The Service's trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters. The NSW SES assists other emergency services when they are performing major operations. These services include the NSW Police Force, the NSW Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW and the Ambulance Service of NSW. The NSW SES also partners with local communities through Community Engagement programs like FloodSafe, StormSafe and TsunamiSafe. These programs are supported by strategies and resources, are delivered locally through a range of activities and events and are a priority for the NSW SES. The aim is to engage at-risk communities on preparedness, response and recovery measures so that there is no loss of life and impacts caused by these events are minimised. This in turn builds community resilience to floods, storms and tsunami. For further information visit the NSW SES website at http://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/

⚠️⛈️💨 SEVERE STORM FORECAST - SAT
- VARIOUS PARTS OF

- 11:48AM, Saturday 15th November

Thunderstorms are possible across the eastern half of NSW and the ACT today (Saturday) due to unstable conditions east of an inland trough.

Severe thunderstorms are likely for northern parts of the North West Slopes & Plains this afternoon into the evening, and possible east of Walgett to Wagga Wagga. This includes around Canberra, western Sydney metropolitan area, and the Illawarra/Shoalhaven.

Damaging wind gusts (>90 km/h), large hail (>2 cm), and locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding are risks with severe thunderstorms. This activity is most likely during the afternoon and evening and may continue overnight (particularly about the northern ranges and coast), though large hail would become a decreasing risk after dark.

There is currently less than 10% risk of severe thunderstorms reaching the coast between Sydney and Coffs Harbour so this coastal strip has been excluded from the yellow area on the map. However, severe thunderstorms reaching the coast could not be completely ruled out this afternoon or evening.

In the red area north of Moree, more dangerous severe thunderstorms with locally destructive winds (> 125 km/h) and giant hail (>5 cm) are possible this afternoon and early evening.

Tambar Springs SES would like to thank the NSW SES Volunteer Association for the grant to purchase a notice board for outside the shed.
This notice board is a running tally of how many patients our Community First Responder (CFR) team has assisted since it came into being in 2007 with a team of 6 volunteers. Now we are down to 3 and the number of patients helped continues to rise.
The board is there to remind our volunteers that they do make a difference and to let the community know we continue to support those in need. The latest tally is 721.
To keep helping we need more volunteers. If you would like to know more about becoming a CFR volunteer email [email protected]

Today is World Mental Health Day in Mental Health Month. Those units that are rescue and or cfr know how much our roles can have an impact on mental health.
I have personally been affected with severe mental health issues this year. That is why I am walking to raise funds and awareness for the Black Dog Institute. They are there for emergency responders when things are not ok.
My target is 60km for 200 dollars.
I am walking as part of a team ( NSW SES Walkers)
Please follow my progress, show support and or donate /one-foot-forward
Together we can make a difference in peoples lives.
