๐ง Wellington East Project Update from SA Water ๐ง
Weโre pleased to share an update with the Wellington East community about the transition of water supply services from Coorong District Council to SA Water.
Our teams have successfully cleaned the existing raw water network, thoroughly scouring and disinfecting all water mains, including replacing all customer water meters.
During the coming weeks, weโll be undertaking comprehensive water quality testing before the supply can deemed safe for drinking.
Important information ๐จ
- Although the water may appear clearer and cleaner, do not drink the water until all testing has been finalised. We will advise you when the water is safe to drink once testing is complete.
- You will need to run any taps connected to the water network for 2-3 minutes every few days to help flush out any remaining untreated or potentially contaminated water from your propertyโs internal plumbing system.
- You will not be charged for water usage until the water network is officially transferred in the coming months.
If you have a fish tank, aquarium or fishpond ๐
- Please avoid using tap water during the water testing period as temporary water changes may affect aquatic pets.
- After this, remember tap water will still contain chloramine, so always treat it with a water conditioner before adding to your tank.
- Your local pet shop or aquarium specialist can recommend the right product and provide further expert advice.
Next steps โ
- Upon approval from SA Health, we will advise you when the water is safe to drink.
- We will confirm a transition date, which is currently expected to be the end of June, subject to testing outcomes.
- SA Water staff will read your new meters and set your starting point, which is when you will become SA Water customers and your first billing period will commence.
