As the 2025–2026 fire season comes to a close, it’s an important time to reflect on the challenges we’ve faced and the lessons we’ve learned. Each season gives us the opportunity to strengthen our skills, build on our experience, and better prepare for the 2026–2027 fire season ahead.

This year, Tailem Bend crews have responded to a number of incidents, both within our local area and interstate. We’ve also seen our members travel across the state to support other brigades, demonstrating the strong teamwork and commitment that defines our service.

A sincere thank you goes out to all of our volunteers for the dedication and sacrifice you show—stepping away from your families and workplaces whenever the pager sounds.

We also extend our deepest appreciation to the families and employers who support our volunteers. Your understanding and flexibility make it possible for our crews to do the vital work they do.

TOTAL FIRE BAN – FRIDAY 9 JANUARY

A Total Fire Ban is in place for Friday 9 January.
Tomorrow’s conditions are extreme and dangerous.

Forecast temperatures of 41°C, strong winds of 30–45 km/h, and destructive gusts up to 80–90 km/h mean any fire that starts will be fast-moving and potentially uncontrollable.

This is not the day to be unprepared.
Have your bushfire survival plan ready, know when to leave, and act early.

If a fire starts, it may be too late to prepare.
We are ready. Are you?
